An attempt to capture contrast in an urban environment. The rather
low-class Fried Dough stand contrasts with the more somber and steady
stone edifices behind it, and the contrast between the warm, flashy
feeling of the stand and the man wearing a heavy winter coat is also
evident.

A very powerful shot...it's similar to a piece of literature in that I can infer so many meanings and expressions. Very well done.

Thanks for the commentary, I never get this much!
This was indeed taken at 17th and Valencia in the Mission District. I believe this is the best place in the city for photography, it's very rich in colour and variety of people. Unfortunately my visit was in the early morning and that's why the scene seems more desolate than I would have liked...although the main focus was the architecture. In the future I'll try and shoot later in the day to capture the flavour of the local population as well as the buildings.
