Europe is old, so is film. Take the film camera. For most people a trip to Europe would be a once in a life time opportunity. At least for me, living in Hawaii it would be. In my opinion negatives make better archives, and this trip is something that you are going to want to remember for the rest of your life. Aloha

I have had a lot of luck with flickr. I enjoy it. Made a lot of friends with similar shooting styles and interest. They also have privacy settings too if thats important to you. Also there are groups that you can create that cater to anything you may be interested in. I have started 2. One for my friends band, and one for hawaii lomographers, and people can join the groups and upload shots that they want to share. They also have great uploading software for Mac and PC. Makes uploading simple.

Good luck in your quest!

These shots are beautiful! Looks like a great place to live and shoot!

If you want stability get the mac. It is built on a UNIX platform. I have never had any problems working on anything. No lockups, no rebooting without my permission, updates are not every week, no blue screens, no registry - so programs actually will uninstall without leaving garbage behind, low risk for viruses, so easy to use, great work flow.
I have used them all, Windows 9x - Vista, many Linux flavors, and MAC. I have to honestly say that MAC's have won my heart.
I know they are expensive, but I do not understand the point of getting the latest, fastest hardware, and putting a clunky OS on it like windows.

I love the back stage "mood" shots. These are my favoriate. I think its actually pretty easy to get the live shots, but getting the emotions when their not playing seems to tell a better story to me, than when they are playing. What lens were you using? Great work

Does anyone have the c1 in silver? thats the one I have, but I have many questions about the settings. Does any know of an online manual?

-

Is that manual still available? I just got this camera used today, and I would love to know what all the functions mean. And I defiantly do not want a date stamp showing on the film. Is there any chance you have put the manual in a pdf format and uploaded it anywhere. There is hardly any info on this cam online...thanks

First of all, What a beautiful portrait!!!!
I just love the soft focus that Holgas can provide.
I must say my favorite thing about the holga is the lack of control, soft focus you get, the light leaks, and its just a really fun camera.
I know that people think Holgas, and with the support of Lomography, that it is just a fad, but so what...they are doing a huge part to help keep film around. Marketing gimmicks aside, they have interesting cameras and great film prices.
Great work Josh, and Great article! Those commenter have some amazing shots!!!

if you dont want to use a flash, you need a super fast lens. I use a $70 lens from canon. its a 50mm 1.8. my dream lens is the canon 1.2 85mm, but its almost 2 grand. just find a lens that is in the 1.? range, and you will catch all the stage lights. Never use a flash!!!

I love expired film. I think it produces the best results, esp, if it is slide film, and cross processed! truly amazing!!!

when i was stuck with windows, I used avast. Its free, and has a neat voice announcement when it updates. Also if you use search and destroy, it will lock down your system so that adware, and malware cannot take control of your browser. Other wise, go mac or linux. I have been using linux for years, and only using windows for games, but I finally made the switch to mac, and I love it.

I have an agfa. bought it for 12 bucks on e-bay, and it takes beautiful pictures. There are some seriously good deals out there.

I know a lot of people may hate this company, but I get film from shop.lomography.com. its not the cheapest, but they have and unusual selection, and if you spend $200 then shipping is free...just a suggestion.

Absolutely one of my fav pictures that I have ever seen in my life was the Grass shadows. I stared at it for 5 minutes here at work...Well done!!!
