I'm no expert at all, far from it, but PS from what I have read gives you much more control over the sharpening process. Also as said above if you convert to a 16 bit TIFF file you lose no data.
-
Same as above, don't stick a crap converter on L glass, buy Canon.
-
You will find that most everyone will recommend to do all sharpening in PS or whatever image editor you are using, the amount depending on end use. Most experts recommend not to sharpen the RAW file at all during conversion.

You must be a very hard man to satisfy, because there is currently a digital SLR in Canon's line up that would satisfy 99% of the people. I mean from the 6MP Rebel up to the full frame 1DsmkII, they have everything covered. I really can't see what would hold you back, unless it is price, but a new Rebel is dirt cheap, so that can't be it. Myself, I would not even think about a P&S, unless I want to take photos to sell stuff on Ebay.
-
They also seem to show up in the fredmiranda.com Buy & Sell forum too.
-
As for surfing photography, there are a bunch of them that post on fredmiranda.com, in the sports section.
-
As long as it is not overdone I like it. The cameras are HD now also which makes it nice for those of us who are watching HDTV's.
-
Short answer, it can't. If you want AF at f/8 with Canon digital bodies you must buy a 1 series body.

I don't know what condition everyone that commented here is in, but the 70-200 2.8L IS is not that heavy people. You act as if your carrying a 25lb cast iron weight around your next. I have spent an entire week, on my feet 10+ hours a day, with a EOS3, or 10D around my neck with the f/2.8 zoom lense. If you saw me you would not mistake me for an Olympic athlete either.
You really won't lose any image quality with the little brother the f/4L, but if you need the extra stop, it is not that heavy.
-
Heck with the 400 5.6L, I want a 200-400 f/4L IS like Nikon's 200-400 f/4 VR lense.
-
Shoot RAW, it takes less than 30 seconds to convert a pic. I just shot almost 2,400 pics over 8 days at the Reno Air Races. It is not a pain to convert the ones I want to keep.
Everybody seems to think RAW conversion is some time consuming step thats adds hours to processing, it does not, and you have a higher quality file to archive than a JPEG.

7D, 3D, it ain't gonna happen. Despite the large price difference between the 20D, and the 1DmkII, they are very close feature wise. Canon bringing out a 7D, 3D, or whatever the heck you want to call it with 45 pt. AF, and spot metering will just canabolize(sp?) 1DmkII sales. It ain't gonna happen people. I would bet the farm on this one. Never, ever gonna happen.
Don't belive the hysteria over at dpreview. I swear if somebody posted the world was flat according to Canon reps, 95% of those knuckleheads would believe it!

-
No, but the specs have been leaked also. Check out dpreview.com (10D forum), or the Canon SLR forum at Fredmiranda.com.
-
So will you buy one? Its official. Street price looks like $1,300 for
the body. I think I will get one early next year, and the 10D will be
the backup. Can't afford the mkII, and the 20D should be better for
sports. It won't be mkII fast AF, but it should be better than the
10D. The 25 frame buffer is also much better, the 10D takes a LONG
time to write to the card if you fire off a few RAW shots in a row.

Well I gave them a quote, and all e-mails stopped. I guess they don't want to pay for quality. I'm going to an airshow where they will be performing, so I can ask them face to face why they have not responded.
-
Push/pull out of favor, maybe dust. I know Canon's 100-400L has a nasty rep as a Hoover when it comes to dust. I have not noticed it with mine however. I'm sure the rotating types like the 70-200 Canon's seal out rain much better also. No zoom creep as you walk around with it either.
-
If you do a search on Fred Miranda you should also come up with some stuff. There are a lot of surfing shooters over there and they use waterproof housings when they are in the water. I have priced some, and they are not cheap, over $1,200 for one for a 10D

In hindsight I probably should not have listed the URL, could the moderator please remove the link. If anyone wants to see it I can e-mail it to you.
-
If the moderators feel I'm in the wrong here, please delete this thread. Now that I think about it, I'll just e-mail some people I know privately.
-
I guess someone could e-mail me privately then. I see this kind of discussion all the time, just nothing that closely pertains to what I am doing.
-
By the way these were shot at smaller airshows where there was nothing on the ticket about the show being holder to rights of images taken at these shows, so legally I should be ok.
-
I have a chance to have an airshow act maybe use some of my photos I
took of them in action to promote their act on their website. The
question is how much should I charge them?
Here is the site in question: http://www.airshows.com/dacy/home/
If you click on the link for the pictures you can see how poor they
are. If you check out my Airshow/Air Racing gallery you can see my
photos are just a little bit better.
So what do you think??

I use a 20GB tripper for storage. It works fine but the batteries die fast. I can transfer 2 1GB cards and 1 512 in a day, but then it dies on me. What size are the D70 RAW files? I can get 160 shots on a 1GB card with the 10D in RAW. I use the smallest embedded JPEG file, since I could care less what the JPEG looks like. The tripper was about $250.
I know many using MAC's use iPods. The iPods have great battery life, but I'm not a MAC user.
Will the New 5D AF at F8?
