<p>Will swap my M8 for the M9 as soon as I can. But fear Guido is correct- there will be no market for used M8s at all.... Hope Leica offers some kind of trade-in program<br>
By the way, the brochure reminds me of an old advert for peri-peri chicken: <a href="
Enjoy!</p> -
<p>It looks like a lovely camera, but I'd go for a slightly used 39mp Hassy at half the price- look on ebay.<br>
Hassy has the advantage of easy upgrades if 39mp become too few....<br>
Would love to see a shoot-out between the 2!</p>

<p>Thanks everyone. Both sites very helpful. Agree with your comments Edward- a MF digital section on this site would be right at home and I would definitely welcome it.</p>

<p>With prices on used MF digital equipment falling dramatically I am considering making a purchase. Any suggestions on a site similar to this one with lots of users posting their questions and sharing experiences? I'd like to learn as much as possible before reaching for my wallet.<br>
<br />Also, a suggestion to this site's managers/owners: how about a seperate category for medium format digital? I'm sure it would be a welcome additional to your already great site.<br>
<br />Thx</p>

<p>A friend saw 100s like this for sale in Moscow. Caveat emptor!</p>

<p>My current Greatest Camera of All Time. Have takes 1000s of shots with it. Easy to use and great results.<br>
Focus is just like a Leica I find. So if you have ever used a Leica M6 or M7, this is very similar</p>

<p>Thx</p>

<p>Thx Diego<br>
Anyone else?</p>

<p>Thanks Diego.<br /><br />How does focussing and light metering work with this combination of camera and back? Do you know?</p>
-
<p>I am intrigued by how a camera like the Alpa TC works with a digital back. Am I right in assuming that the camera itself doesn't have any light meter? Or split image focusing thingy like a view finder camera? So how does the user set these things? Or does the digital back have some tricks up its sleeve? And how does this work in comparison to the same back on a Hasselblad H3D for example?<br>
Any input appreciated!<br>
Thanks in advance.</p>

<p>Thanks. A combination of the above worked. Interestingly (if you are interested in these things) both printers were showing up in the Print and Fax settings. I deleted them, then re-downloaded and re-installed the drivers, then re-added them in the settings. Works. Thanks again.</p>

<p>Help! (And sorry for the silly question)<br>
I had to reinstall everything on my Mac including Photoshop (am using CS3) and for some reason I can't get it to see the printer drivers for my Epson 2400, or for Quadtone RIP. I redownloaded and re-installed both of these drivers, but Photoshop just won't see them.<br>
<br />Any suggestions would be very welcome!</p>
<p>Thanks<br>

<p>Great effort. Put it in a sexy black case with a red dot and you'll be able to sell it for a fortune.</p>

<p>A great piece of work. Well done and thank you Marco. It is amazing to see the differences between film and digital, but even more striking is how all the pictures look good in their own way. That's why so many people shoot both formats I guess.<br /><br />Like some of the other readers, I'd love to see a test of similar quality using MF.</p>

Nice results and yes, they're remarkably similar. any chance you can tell us which one is which? feel free to mail me if you don't want to post it here yet.

I have a 90mm f2 that I use a lot (normally set at f2 for depth-of-field reasons) and love it. Great portrait lens that gets me close to my subject. Never tried the 75mm so can't really comment but love my 90mm

Hello.
I'd be interested to hear opinions on these announced-but-not-yet-released cameras. I read about them on
http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/scarlet.shtml. In particular, is this page for real? I must admit I checked
to see if it was 1 April. Will the cameras ever make it to market? And the 6x17 sensor? Who makes these? All
thoughts welcome! Thanks.

I have a Mamiya 7ii which I really like.
Pros:
-easy to use
-easy to carry- much lighter than most of the other cameras mentioned here
-reasonable built-in lightmeter
-reasonably sharp (although there are sharper cameras out there)
Cons:
-expensive
-i prefer 6x9 to 6x7
-don't think it is terribly robust- mightn't survive a fall for example
-
i think the S2 is aimed at rich hobbiests, not pros. but with the global market crisis continuing, maybe leica would be well-advised to put the project on hold?
-
Totally agree with John P. I bought an Epson 750 and after using a friend's Nikon 9000 wish I had that instead. The Epson's ok. The Nikon is better. Hand's down. Anyone want to exchange?
-
Thanks Edward.
I'm leaning towards the H3D31 but am going to wait a few months as I'm sure (or at least hope) prices will fall even further

I have both a M6 and a Mamiya 7ii. The Mamiya takes better pics overall. I'm sure the Leica glass is better but the larger negative size (almost 5x the size I think) more than compensates. In fact I am thinking of archiving the M6- it is close to mint and I'm sure 50 years from now will be a real collector's item- it is beautiful and a joy to handle and use. The Mamiya is great too but it's a lump of plastic with little nostalgic value......
If only Leica made a M6 for 120 film.....
For me the biggest bottleneck is however the scanner. I have an Epson 750 but after trying a friend's Nikon 9000 wish I had bought that instead....

An interesting topic. I use an Epson 750. It's ok for MF but not so good for 35mm I find. I tried a friend's Nikon 9000 for MF and it was hands down better. Personally I'd love to get one, but am a little put off by the fact that it can't do 4x5. Although I've never shot 4x5 I have the urge to do so, and would like a 4x5 scanner too. Some people recommended the Imacon 949 but I can't find a second hand one at a reasonable price although I've looked for ages. A new Flextight X1 is nice too but is ridiculously priced for a hobbyiest, esp seeing as film is becoming more and more of a specialist format. (Before anyone shoots me, I love film and am not saying its dead.)
If I hadn't bought the Epson, I'd probably get the Nikon today and forget my LF dreams for now

Very helpful. Thank you everyone. I hadn't considered the Sinar but will look at that too.
A final question: will the Leica be future-proof without a changable back? Or will it be so good that the future will take 20 years to arrive? And is it a mistake to buy a Hassy back that has a smaller sized sensor than what appears to be the "new standard size" on their latest backs?
Once again, thanks.
