<p>Hi everyone,<br> When I use manual focus, I noticed the focus ring won't stop after infinity, the ring will rotate all the way around. I was still able to focus properly. Does anyone have the same experience on this lens or any other lens? <br> Denny</p>

<p>Thanks again Dieter and Edward for sharing your experience with the 300mm F4 ED IF, that really helps me to make my decision to go with it and probably a Kenko pro 1.4x. I think I will love this combination. Being an enthusiast, I am lucky enough to have decent gears and lenses. I am not making a living out of the photos and I enjoy the whole process of Digital Photography, if I can get a decent result on most of my photos and a great shot once in a while, it's a fulfillment for me. </p>

In your opinion , the older version AF ED IF, did it focus fast enough if you are catching in flight shots? and did you have any experience with any of the teleconverter? I am also think to get a 1.4x converter, Nikon or Kendo. I know about the lost of f stop on the converter, if I use it with the 300mm f4, does that mean I get 630mm reach with f5.6?<br> I had borrowed a 70-200mm vr ii and of course I had fun with it but it was a little too short. I tried to move closer to the birds with no good result. <p>I am still looking for a long tele for birds and wildlife. I came across to see a used Tokina AF 100-300mm f/4 AT-X II, with my D7000, I get 150-450mm roughly and it is very reasonable cost. I know this is an older lens and the focus will be slow, but for the reach i get and the price i found (under $400), I am actually considering it, do you have any thought? Thanks in advance.</p>

<p>Thanks everyone for all the input, I went out to the store and tested #3, #4 and #5 on my list. I was impressed how fast and quiet the AF works, compare to #4 and #5. I think I can narrow my choices down to #1 or #3, I haven't had a chance to test #2 yet. I had also borrowed my friend's VR ii and shoot a few shots at the wildlife refuge, it was good but now I understand it's just not long enough for birds. Will keep my options open and do more research. Thanks again everyone.</p>

<p>I had been shooting with my d7000 for more than 2 years and I still love it and probably will stay with DX. I am an enthusiast and have interest in shoot everything and every occasions. I do pick up side gigs to make a few bucks. I current have the following lenses:<br> Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 (for landscape and club)<br> Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 dc Macro Os Hsm ( for general and Macro, mostly flowers)<br> Nikon 10.5mm f 2.8 ED AF DX Fisheye ( for fun shots)<br> Nikon 35mm f1.8 and 50mm f.1.8 ( for protroit )<br> Nikon 18-200mm VR I ( my very 1st lens and haven't been using it and probably will sell it )<br> The reason I want to get 70-200mm f2.8 is for sporting event, and nature shots, I am planning to get a TC17eii later for even longer range.<br> I am hoping to spend less than $1500 on the next lens either it's new or used. Here are my options:<br> 1. Nikon 70-200mm f 2.8 ED-IF AF-S VR.....new $1400-1500.....used $1100-1300<br> 2. Tamron 70-200mm f 2.8 Di LD Macro New $770....I like the Macro function.<br> 3. <p>Hi guys,<br> Need to make a decision on a mid range lens, I shoot with a D7000 and currently own a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, Nikon 35m f1.8, Nikon 50m f1.8 and Nikon 18-200mm VR(this is the 1st lens I own). I am thinking buying the Sigma 17-70mm f.28-4 to add to my collection and maybe selling the 18-200mm, i love the versatility of the 18-200mm but I want sharper images, the Nikon 24-70mm will be out of my budget. I had read many reviews on the Sigma lens and it seems to a good fit for me. I want a mid range lens that will performance well enough for walk around and events and the marco capability seems like another good feature to have.
