I didn't find anything artistic in the photographs and would not walk across the street to view them let along spend money on them.
Maybe the cat didn't break any laws although I do believe he violated people's privacy and if he would have taken shots like that where I live he would be working on removing his camera from his arse. People here don't take kindly to other people violating their privacy legally or otherwise.

Only one problem with google+; it is run by google. Won't use anything made or created by gaggle if I don't have to.

The biggest problem I see with this device and the main reason I won't consider buying it is it is running the android os made by google.

Every fall I fly fish the same section of river near where I live. There is a large beaver that lives in this section of river and every year the thing sneaks up on me and smacks its tail on the water either in warning of my presence or what I think is to scare me. And as always I damn near jump out of my boat when he smacks his tail. I am almost positive that beaver knows me and knows it is scaring the crap out of me. I do try and watch for him but he always catches me off guard. I have tried shooting him but have yet to get off a good shot. He is a cagey old critter. I will get his image sooner or later.

Back to one of the original questions; to make this a better site I would hire Josh back.

Who is Ken Crockwell?

If a celebrity shoots him/herself is she/he considered paparazzi?

I have met Josh Root thru another web site unrelated to photography and before I knew he was associated with photo.net. How cool is that?

"I guess I am just not as lofty as some here.
But yesterday I read this thread and discovered OOB, then had great enjoyment last night playing with it.
I am still stuck at that low level of skill development that I think photography is supposed to be fun --"

I agree, although I didn't spend anytime last night playing with the technique. Not my cup of tea but if it twists someone else's crank, why not. I refuse to let myself get to the lofty heights some here have acheived.

I have shot many rolls of film but I must admit I was not much into photography. It wasn't until I got my first digital camera that I started to have an interest in anything beyond the basics of photography. I now own my third dslr and have thousands into lenses and other equipment. I also have invested hundreds in books on the subject and spend most of my weekends shooting. I am constantly trying to learn and improve my abilities.

I have a D800e and the Sigma 12-24 lens. The lens works fine with the 800 but I tend to agree with Shun. I rarely shoot at less than 24mm also Shun is correct about filters on the Sigma; if you use them they will need to be the thinnest you can get to prevent vignetting

While researching macro photography I started reading an article on photo.net, http://www.photo.net/learn/macro/, a statement from the 1st paragraph on macro lenses, "Fortunately, it is difficult to buy a bad macro lens. This is kind of odd in a world where 90 percent of the lenses sold are bad." Really? 90% of all lenses sold are bad? I find this hard to believe but I am a proletarian shooter and have no real means of telling if a lens is good or bad.

It is nothing more than a group of people using instant communication devices. The fact that images are a part of it has no more significance then text messages.

-

The article is not about photography. It is about communication.
