I'd be interested in how fast it would shoot with the 1.3 crop as well, buffer full. If it makes it to 4 frames/second, that might make it a workaround.

Barry, once the buffer was full, how long for it to clear?

I tested the 70-200vrii and the new 2xtc versus the old 80-400. I could see no appreciable image quality difference at f8, and the AF as well as the image stabilization was better with the 70-200 and tc. I'm sure the image quality at 400mm will be better with the new 80-400, but the combo of 70-200 and tc is more versatile for me, and the image quality at 400mm is good enough. Brad Hill has reviewed the new 2x TC here
and has some images. There is also a flickr site dedicated to that TC that you can check out as well.

Sanjay here is a good resource on Kodak projectors.:
The Golden Navitars are very good- do a search either on this site or on Google, and you will come up with numerous recommendations.

I recently had an old leitz projector (which I loved) die on me, and found an Ektagraphic AMT on Fleabay for $50. Well worth it. Upgrade the lens however as the standard Kodak lenses are not equal to their Leica or Leitz equivalents. There are 70-125mm f2.8 golden Navitars going for around $10 right now on Fleabay. Well worth it. Another nice accessory is the kodak stack loader which will take 35 slides in a clip-no requirement for a tray(about $25 on the auction site). So for around $100 you can get a very nice setup which was designed for commercial use and should last a long time.

I too have shot ektar and scanned with an Epson v700. Those cyan skies of the kids in the tree (gorgeous shot by the way) look familiar, but are easily remedied in PS.
Image >adjustments>selective colour>
-choose cyan in top box, then adjust sliders
Cyan 0
magenta +20
yellow -10
black +20
Try a little shadow and highlight too!
Once the colour cast is fixed , Ektars ability to hold highlights, and its small grain make it a very interesting film.

So far I've shot it at its rated speed and have had good results.Subjectively I think this film works best in low contrast scenes where it makes colours pop in a natural way. Ektar is a joy to scan- I use an Epson V700. Here are a couple of examples

I get the best results scanning from my V700 using the 48 bit hdr option in Silverfast SE. Save it as a tiff file, then open it in Camera Raw in PS. Be sure to use scanner sharpening and set gamma gradation to at least 2.2 (I set it at 2.5). I find file manipulation far easier in Photoshop, than trying to muck around too much in scanner software.
