2.
The tablet I recommended would only really serve as a way to view and share photos. Transferring and editing on an Android tablet may be possible in limited ways, and is no match for what you can do with a Windows tablet like the Surface - there are other Windows tablets too, but none that I know of with an AMOLED screen.

 3.
That depends on your plan and 'wifi hotspot' capabilities - the phone company is the best to ask about this.

 4.
Do you need data away from a WiFi source? If yes then you want 4g/3g from a carrier. Which carrier depends on a lot of things.

 5.
There are two sizes of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S AMOLED Android tablet (same screen technology as the S4). If you can, compare its screen to competitors. I have the 8.4 version and it has a crazy high resolution of 2560 x 1600 for an 8.4" device (same res on the 10.5").
If you like the way your photos look on that phone, nothing else will do :)

 6.
It's been a while but I had the same issue with an Epson. To correct it I manually selected the images (drew the crop lines around them) rather than let it auto-select

 7.

which I needed to replace with a new version approx every two years

That's a sad state of affairs IMO. Two years is all you get? I've been happily using CS4 and will continue, but on a different OS. Yes the software companies want you to upgrade often, but is it really necessary? Does the job require it? I'll never 'upgrade' to rental-ware.

 8.
oops. A white balance adjustment (eye dropper on the ice, making it more neutral), a little straightening, and SilverEfex "Underexpose" preset (OK I'm lazy :-).
