  1. <p>The 2 price differences are :<br>

the macro=cheaper, barrel extends when zooming, no HSM--I have this lens and love it!<br>

The Non macro= brand new from Sigma this year! EXPENSIVE! HAS HSM and internal zoom & focus. IF I had the $$ I'd get it in a heartbeat!</p>

  2. <p>Shot yesterday, and had the camera set-up for the bright blue sunny skies. Then a storm front moved in just as I got there, and I forgot to change the settings! Well I liked the way the pics turned out.</p>

    <p>What do you think?</p>

  3. <p><a href="http://www.photoreflect.com">www.photoreflect.com</a><br>

No upfront fees, free to set up, unlimited image uploads, free software for editing, pro labs to chose from for printing, and they drop ship to costumer!<br>

They just take a % of your sale, so you just set your prices accordingly.</p>

<p>One of my 8x10's sell for $25 + $7.95 S/H to the customer, and after photoreflect takes thier cut, and the lab takes their cut, I end up with a $19.89 check.</p>

<p>And YES, my sales are doing just great!</p>

<p>I have the Canon 70-300mm IS USM f4-5.6 and can tell you from my results that the IQ at 300mm (<strong>NOT</strong> using IS) is extremely sharp. That is outdoor natural light shooting. I use this lens on a XSi body and shoot motocross, and have no problem with autofocus speed or IQ. I love the lens! I <strong>WOULD love to get the 70-200 f2.8</strong> but funding is to low for me. I have also used the lens for indoor motocross with a flash, and have had good results at 300mm.</p>

<p>For comparisons, I had rented a canon 70-200 f2.8(non IS) for the indoor motocross and took several shots with all the same settings, SS, aperture & ISO, and IMHO IQ was hadrly noticebly different.</p>

  5. <p>I use.photoreflect and have been very happy with them.<br>

You get a free website to display your pictures, along with free software, Express Digital Web Edition, to enhance, edit, price and set packages, etc... your pictures. All sales are done throught the site, and you can choose to have 1 of many 100's of pro labs print and drop-ship your prints to your customers. you do not pay anything out of pocket, BUT any lab fees will be taken off the sale price along with a few minor Photoreflect fees.<br>

It's all explained on their site and very user friendly!</p>

  6. Benjamin and Dan--

Thanks for all the help and links!! Much appreciated!

Dan- the body is XSi so I will only get ISO up to 1600.

I'm downloading the manual for the flash right now, and I'll be reading it over a few times today!

    Scott

  7. Benjamin--

    Thanks for the reply!

I just got the flash and lens in the mail, and there is no manual included, so this is going to be a real learning on the fly type of deal!

Yes I will be shooting RAW(is there another way? LOL)

FEC--thats on the camera correct? Or on the flash?

I have a track access pass so I will be about 10-20 feet from the racers.

Will the High-Speed Sync work for fast action shots if I'm within 25 feet?

    Thanks

    Scott

  8. Hi All-

I have rented a Canon 580EXII Speedlight flash for this weekend. I am going to be shooting indoor arenacross

(motocross). I have never used a flash before! The flash will be here today(fri) and I am leaving in the morning for the

    race. I will be using a Canon 70-300mm f4-5.6 and a Canon 70-200mm f2.8(Rented also) for lenses.

    Question is this:

What settings to get me started? I am comfortable shooting in full manual, but have not done so with a flash.

    Thanks

    Scott

  9. Ok, I searched here and other forums to no availe! So here is my question--

For the 3rd time now, my wife has gone to WalMart and WalGreens to print out some pics that I took of our Senior

Son, and they have give her the run-around for not having a © release with the CD of photos I gave her to print from.

Does anyone know where I can download these type of forms or show me what they have used in the past?

This is REALLTY getting frustarting for her, as anytime she runs to make prints, she is getting harrasses by the

employees for not having this form! I do realize that this is a good thing for you pro photog's(I am not 1 of you---but

someday I hope) that they watch out for © protection.

Thanks, and i look forward to some replies!

  10. AVOID the Canon 75-300mm! The UPDATED Canon 70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM is an excellent lens for the price vs a "L" lense. I have the XSi and both lenses, 18-55(KIT LENS) and the 70-300, and have nevr bothered to use the kit lens again. Here are examples from the XSi mounted w/70-300mm:

    First of landscape:
