  1. Looks as though you have had some good summer weather to produce those lovely autumn tints.

Very nice. Never used a Leicaflex, just getting to grips with an M3 D/W.

Very happy with it too.I assume that the Leicaflex offers a similar experience ?

  2. Interesting. Not a technique that I would recommend anywhere in the UK. If the local populace did not get to you first (you certainly would not need the Billingham to take your kit home) the Plod (police) would be down on you like a ton of bricks !

Do not do street myself but I hear that if you so much as raise a camera in public these days especially near a civic building you will find yourself in trouble. Perhaps other UK forum members may care to elucidate.

  3. I too read this forum most nights but have so far failed to learn how to post. I have however learnt much and also gained by way of inspiration.

I like the chair photo very much .I have a similar piece of furniture made by my grandfather. How did you arrive at the lighting ?

  4. Always a pleasure to view your work Godfrey. I have listened to your advocacy of this system both on this forum and

    others.

It is a balanced perspective that the results certainly justify.

It was such that I nearly bought the D3 myself but the question over Leica continued commitment persuaded me

    otherwise .

As I sit here in England ,in summer, it is raining and dark. Your photo`s bring back happy memories of the mid 60`s

and Rolling Stone magazine, music and a hope for the future. Some of the optimism ("when I was young with never a

crack in my heart" ) may seems vapid and trite now that we approach our sixties but I am impressed that you still

seem to be involved with local community issues and people. All this through the medium of photography !

I myself am a happy snapper . I too would like to see more of your work on this forum.

  6. Thank you all very much for the kind words and info.It is a beautiful camera.

I had not realised that I could stop the lens down. Now I know what that lever is for !

Those web sites are very interesting.

Looks like the old camera will get a trip out this summer and bring back memories as well as creating some.

I will try that smallest f stop and take it from there. Who knows if I get more proficient with this PC might even post some of the results.

Thank you all once again for taking the time to consider my question.

  7. Hello, I am new to this site but would appreciate some advise on the Hawkette.

My cameras are from the 1970 and eighties so I am familiar with manual cameras but this one was my late fathers

and I have forgotten about some of the features on it and would appreciate some help.

It is in very good conditon with a custom case.

    1. Exposure.

What size is the objective lens and what is the shutter speed on this model ?

I seem to recall that the small lever on the front was for timed exsposures ?

    2. Operation.

I cannot remember what the pull up lever between the viewfinder and the shutter is for.

It does not seem to operate anything on this camera so maybe it no longer works.

    3.Service.

Is it possible to get the unit serviced in he UK. I know that they are not worth much so it probably is not cost effective.

    4.Film

Again, I seem to recall that it took 120 film and wonder about availability and processing in the UK.

I have been reading this forum for some time and have found it very helpful as I am returning to photography after

    about 10 or 12 years.

It has been a good refresher course !

    Thank you

    Michael
