Hello,
I am heading to Ethiopia in a few days to take photos of a Medical Mission trip and was wondering about getting release forms of the patients being treated at the clinic. Say I want to use the images beyond my website (perhaps in a magazine article), what is law in this matter? Does HIPPA apply here?
Thanks,
Lester

Does anybody think this is a serious threat to the current DSLRs? It shoots high quality stills and video in RAW format.
Check out this video and tell me what you think:

I've had the same problem, it only shows up near the end of a long shooting day - like shooting marathon runners. A friend of mine suggested I turn the camera off and remove the lens. This has always worked for me.

Been reading about on-site printing and am wondering if that is the best way to make money these days. Can on-line ordering/printing make money? If I was to set up an on-line system (where people view images/order on the web), what would be the best way to make it worth my time? I'm familiar with on-site printing, but it sounds like it can be a gamble. Any thoughts would be welcome.
Thanks,

Hello,
I'm using a D700 and a AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 ED VR I for night time sports and sometimes when I press the shutter the camera doesn't fire, like it can't focus fast enough.
I've tried Dynamic AF Area of 9, 21, and 51. Changed the Focus Tracking with Lock-on from short to long. My AF-C is set to Focus Only, and the Built in AF-Assist illuminator it OFF.
Can someone recommend which settings I should use? Thanks.

I just got a Westcott light boom and was disappointed to discover that it won't fit on my regular light stands.
So I'm trying to find a Westcott 10' light stand. Is there a different light stand that will work or am I forced to buy the hard-to-find Westcott 10' light stand. And I don't want to buy a c-stand, they are just too heavy for my needs.

I'm waiting for a 35mm f/1.4 AF-S lens for my D700. If the MF version wasn't so expensive I'd probably buy it instead.

1st choice, my iPhone 4
2nd choice, my Lumix LX5

Never saw the reasoning behind DNG. My co-worker swears by it. For me it's an extra and un-needed step.

A little OT but there's a joke that goes, "what's the difference between a large pizza and a commercial photographer?"
A large pizza can feed a family of 4.

As usual, the Nikon version is much more expensive.
Maybe it's finally time to switch from Nikon to Canon.

Work bag: d300s, Nikon 35mm f1.5, Nikon 50mm f1.8, Nikon 85mm f1.4, Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 zoom, SB-900 Flash, extra CF card, batteries.

I've suffered through NAS (Nikon Acquisition Syndrome), so my set is finally complete. The downside is that the next lens is gonna really set me back, either a 200mm f2.0, a 300mm f2.8, or something bigger.

If you are shooting a subject that doesn't move, then go to Live View to focus. To further check focus, press the '+' button on the back of the camera to zoom into the image. Adjust focus and press the shutter when you're ready to make an exposure. It's that easy.

While the lcd on the back of my D700 is great for viewing images, sometimes it's too small when I need to show other people the images while working on location. I know that I can attach the camera to a tv, but that's too big to drag around. Is there something smaller but not too expensive, like 6x8 inches? I want to know specific models, user experience greatly appreciated.
