I am primarily a wedding and Mitzvah photographer. I would love any thoughts or suggestions on these photos. I had an opportunity to do some photos of residents of a hospice and these were shown at the facility. The photos of the couple are rather poignant. They are the last of them together. He (with the yellow sunglasses and blue shirt) passed shortly after I took these photos, and his widow passed the night before the show. The gentleman with the skates on his shirt (he looks like a much older Richard Petty) was a roller skating champ in the 30's. The nurses said he was steadier on the skates (at 90!!) than he was on his feet. It was one the most rewarding things I've done so far.

It was always nice when I got a response from Nadine when I posted a question. I didn't know her personally, but I respected her knowledge and experience. Photonet will be a lonelier place without her.

I would like to trigger the 430 and 580 off camera. I would like to be able to control the lights from the camera. I thought I could use the little 270ex's on camera as a bit of fill. I'm not including the cost of those in what I am willing to spend. Thank you everyone for your time and input.

Hello,
I am interested in getting radio triggers for my photography. I shoot mostly Bar/Bat Mitzvahs & weddings. I will be putting 2 lights up on stands with umbrellas. I shoot with a 40D and a 7D. I want to use 2 transmitters, 1 on each camera. I want to be able to have a flash on my cameras so I can use fill flash. I would prefer pass through TTL. I'm thinking of just having a couple 270ex's on camera for the fill. I would like the transmitters to be able to fire the flashes the same way with each camera. I shoot with Canon and I have a 580exii as well as a 430ex. I have heard about some RF interference with the 580exii. I'm willing to spend around $600 to $700. Any suggestions?
Thank you,

As someone who loves his 50 and 85mm primes, I would love to take the 100 macro off your hands for a fair price.

Thanks for the feedback. I will do a more accurate test when I get home later. The reason I am concerned is that I do a lot of Bar/Bat Mitzvahs as well as weddings and I like to keep the ISO as low as posible. I tend to shoot manual with an off camera flash or 2. Does anyone have insight into why I might be having low light focusing issues?

Hi,
I just got a 7d and was noticing that it seemed to use a bit of a slower shutter speed to what I'm used to with my 40d. I just did a side by side comparison with the same lens, settings, and subject. I was indoors and set the ISO on both to 800. Aperture was F2.8. The subject was a chair. The lighting conditions were the same. The cameras were both set to Av priority with no exposure compensation. The 40d needed a shutter speed of 1/30 sec, while the 7d needed 1/15 sec. Is this because of the higher pixel count? Is this normal? Also it seems to have a harder time focusing in less than ideal lighting situations than the 40d.
Thank you,

Hi,
I just got my 7d last night and am in the process of learning it and reading the manual. I havent figured out yet how to use the multi-directional to select a focus point without having to first press the manual focus button. On my 40D I would just move the stick to where I wanted and it went. It does it on the 7D as well, but so far only when I press the manual focus button first. Am I missing something?
Thanks!

I just started looking into this myself. I havent yet had much use with it but I can see it's appeal. One thing to remember, it will only work in the "creative" modes. AV, tV, or manual.
Cheers,

Hi,
I have a couple of photographer friends who may be interested in hiring me to edit their pics. I have no idea what to charge and I'm sure that compensation is commensurate with ability, but I just want a ballpark figure as to what to offer. I don't want to quote some outrageous fee on the one hand and I don't want to rip myself off either. Any advice would be wonderful.
Thank you,

Thank you everyone. I am very excited to do this wedding. I've seen some photos from "ethnic" weddings and they are always very colorful and unique. If anyone else has any input on any Muslim weddings they have personally done I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Hello,
I may have (we are having our initial meeting next week) a client that is having a traditional Bosnian wedding and I was wondering if anyone had some information as to how these kinds of weddings typically unfold. I've done traditional Christian weddings and I have done Bar and Bat Mitzvahs but I am unaware of what takes place at a Bosnian wedding. The bride to be knows full well that I am inexperienced in this aspect but I did a (non Bosnian) friends wedding and she loved the pictures. I dont want to unintentially disrespect the couple, their friends, or their religion. I will be researching this further of course but was hoping for real world experince.
Thank you,

Does anyone have language in their contracts about online viewing being available within X amount of time barring any internet/computer issues? I'm trying to find the right wording.
Thanks!

Has anyone been to one of these? It's 3+ hours away from us and we're trying to decide if it's worth the drive,
taking time off from our other jobs, finding a babysitter, etc. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hi Victor,
I used to focus and recompose with the center point as well, however if you are shooting wide open just that small shift from center to elsewhere can throw the focus off. What I tend to do more is I have the focus points mapped to the multi-directional (custom function) and focus and recompose using the closest focus point. You might have to use some compensation if you are using spot metering or center weighted metering.

within 20 minutes or so would be ideal. Thank you.

Hello everyone. I'm shooting a wedding in Glastonbury, Ct in Oct. and would like to know if anyone has any ideas
for locations for the family portraits before the wedding. We can't go to the country club early because there is
a wedding before the one I'm shooting. I don't know Glastonbury that well.
Thanks!

Has anyone ever been to one of the Leather Craftsmen NCO's and if so, what did you think of it? We're trying to find
out if the 3 hour drive in the middle of the week is worth it. Any information would be helpful, thanks.

I was curious about a few things; what kind of prices you folks pay for the various albums for provide for your
clients. I want to provide an album for my clients and I have a few places in mind but wanted to know what kind
of mark up there is. What is the quality of the albums in your experience and the ease of the interface as well
as the turn around time once the order is placed.
thank you.

Thank you every one for your insight. Nadine I like the idea of "modular" I will most likley have a bunch of stuff in my bag and have the cameras on me. Instead of a belt system are there any really good straps that you folks use? I dont like the stock ones that come with the camera, my cameras are falling forward all over the place with the speedlights on and when I bend over they swing out. I whacked my daughter in the head doing that. thanks again.

Thanks for the input. I've looked at their system and think it looks great. I just happen to get Lowepro products
at about %75 off retail with my pro deal where I work.

Hello,
I am looking to get a pair of Yongnuo 560 ii's for off camera flash. I have 2 pairs of the YN-662's. I understand the flash is a manual flash, however, am I able to manually change the power settings on the flash with the trigger on my Canon 7D?
