1.
I earn a living shooting (Base ISO,Tripod and no video)...just bought a D2Xs because I love the way they render colors, files are great at base ISO with pro glass. It is replacing a d7000 which freaks a lot of people out .....just Hate the color of the D7000 no matter what I did...even after nikon adjustment. Love the D2Xs all the way - Id like a D800 or D4 ....but the D2Xs just does everything I ask of it ...

  2.
I actually do have a removable film gate as I use this with a Digital back and the gate needs to come off for that. Mine just snaps off, no screws - I think all the 6008i had the removable gate though.
Anyone have one with out ? Ferdi Thank you for such a detailed post !

  3.
Hi Kevin,

Yes a 6008i , I am hellbent on making this my front line rig - the system has everything and lenses are fantastic - My main rig now is a Nikon DSLR. I have been shooting Provia 100f for Aerial Photos and the resulting picts far exceed the quality of my current Nikon gear, I am also looking into a Sinar Digital Back for the rollei. Did you use the Distagon for Interiors ?

Regards,

  4.
Hi All,

As far as a lens for achitecture ..other than speed F3.5 vs F4 and such what is the difference between the 40 mm super angulon and distagon ? would one be better suited for interiors than others and why ?
I am building my kit and a 40 mm is on the list .
5.
Hi All,
I know they have a 55MM PC lens - WAYYY to pricey....There seems to be a few 50 and 40 mm anyone know the differences between them and which would be the sharpest for interiors...Pros/ Cons...Is the 55mm worth the difference in $ or do you feel its not wide enough ?...I do not have the AF model 6008 and will be using a Sinar Digital Back in the future.

Ty for your toughts !

  6.
Hi All,
I was renting the 70-200vr for Aerial Photos, after several flights I found the lens physically too long and VERY prone to flare..I use a Gyro as I have found the Vr is pretty much useless in an aircraft and when combined with the gyro makes the images soft...any hoo...I decided on the 80-200AF-D as it is easier to manage in the cramped quarters and more resistant to flare....Well ...my first copy sn 104xxx was junk...soft every where up to f7.1..didnt seem to focus well either..very disappointing...so i sent it back to B&H and exchanged it, this one ( sn 103xxx) Is sharp everywhere even at 2.8 (sharper at 5.6 and up of course) I find it as sharp as any of the 70-200's I used with better contrast and flare resistance.....if you are seeing soft images and your using good technique you must have a bad copy...I know mine was awful ! Happy now though ...B&H rocks

  7.
I always thought that was silly...if it was a DSLR i can see it....My D200 has 70k plus on the original shutter - Nikon tech said if it works leave it alone. I would think a Digital Back literally has an Infinite number of exposures for its life !

  8.
I recently had a request for Aerial Shots and plan on using a Rollei 6008i Medium Format with 180mm/2.8 lens and a Kenyon Labs stabilizer

Film choice is Astia 100f, Fuji 160s color neg .

I was wondering what your thought are on this rig...would you recommend different lenses, or film ?

from 1000 ft will it get me close enough for a tight property shot ?
Regards,

  9.
Film will never be dead completely ...so its worth learning.. IMHO you need to learn Lighting, Lighting Ratios, Different Set Ups etc. Digital or Film recording of the image should be the least of your .....uhh Focus lol
Bad Lighting and Sloppy technique yields Bad Photos on Velvia 50 or Sandisk Extreme Card.
I switched careers at 40 to be a Photographer ! I am 42 and Making a living at it...I love it and have a thirst for knowledge of all things photography. I bought a 4 x 5 view camera last year and learned more than I could have imagined ! Then again having OCD actually helps !

  10.
"if you peruse the galleries on Photo.net, you are hard-pressed to find anything shot on film, which should be a compelling argument."

Since when....I am a working Photog and most of my stuff on Photo.net gallery is film
Its all BS anyway...some people still shoot Glass Plate and tin types its all in how you sell it and market it !
The public just keeps buying into the Megapixel wars...ridiculous...a Few years ago a 4.1 mp D2h produced sports shots that were just fine for magazine...but nooooooo now you need a 24mp canon ..come on already

I'll just keep my Speed Graphics LOL

  11. Thanks for the reply Joseph. Ok...Camera works fine with both 120 Backs, Polaroid back still no good... I cleaned and inspected all the contacts..they are spotless...Perhaps I loaded wrong or forgot something ? I am using Fuji 100c and think i have it loaded properly because I removed the back without the slide in place and wasted an exposure..this pulled out fine and the 2nd tab came out as expected. Is there anything I needed to do in the magazine other than drop in the fui pack ? I notice the camera manual said the back is 8 exposure, I have a 10 exposure pack...hmmm anyone have a manual for this back ?

    Ty in advance!

  12. Hi All,

New 6008i user here... I have a Polaroid back that says rollei 6000 series on it and it has the iso dial. ...when

i put it on the 6008i i cannot trip the shutter and get SLIDE displayed in the finder as if I have the film back

on with the dark slide in the wrong place.

I have pulled the slide on the Polaroid back and still cant get it to trip ?

Also have the 80mm 2.8 PQ lens I noticed I cannot see the aperture blades move when changing F stops is this

normal ? (I have yet to develop the roll of film in it) I noticed the little yellow pointer visable on the lens

just behind the Aperture ring stays on 2.8 no matter what I do ..what is this for and is that normal ?

    Regards,

    Dennis
