  4. I thought this rail car in northern New England, trapped in snow pretty much summed up the winter.

  7. <p>If you want to photograph anything but town you'll need a car. The drive north along the coast from Cabo to Todos Santos is a great one for desert and beach views. Todos Santos itself has some interesting old buildings, but not a lot otherwise (you can discuss with the locals if that is or is not the "famous" Hotel California the Eagles sang about). On the drive up from Cabo you can peel off the main road on any of the side spurs and drive down to the beach. San Jose del Cabo, close to the airport, has some interesting courtyards and buildings to photograph. Its smaller and less touristy than Cabo san Lucas. Security in general is not a problem, you'll feel more like you are in LA than Mexico, but just follow normal travel security precautions. Also, if you rent a car, take the insurance. If you have an accident and do not have local insurance you can be held by the police until you come up with the cash to cover any damages.</p>

Maria, one of the things I dislike about this site is the number of people who will rate a photograph poorly (low rating) but offer no advice on how to improve. To that end a few things you could do are: straighten the image, recrop to open up the edges a little, more contrast, try to punch up the sky a little. Also, this photo could be made more interesting by shooting from an angle which would emphasize one of the features of the structure, but obviously you can't do that now. Keep at it.....
  9. <blockquote> <p>"Cape Cod, Cape Cod & Cape Cod."</p> <p>If you are interested in landscapes and oceanscape photography, I would <strong>not recommend Cape Cod at this time of year</strong>. Its extremely crowded, extremely expensive and reservations this close to travel would be hard to come by. I would recommend the white Mountains for a few days then cross over to the Maine coast and just cruise up route 1. Portland is a good start, and there are many picturesque lighthouses and fishing villages along the way.</p> </blockquote>
  10. This was shot during a church anniversary ceremony in Dubrovnik. What caught my eye was the weathered look of the gentleman in the foreground against the fresh face of the young girl behind him. Any comments/critiques most welcome. Thank you.
