    Kestral

As a bird photographer I have seen many views of the American Kestral but none so compelling as this flying image. I get a real dynamic wing position and a bird looking for food along with great details and an overall excellent image from composition to exposure.

If anyone gives you grief about the white background they probably work soley in a blind with dead stick perch and orange bait overhead. They can set up the BG. I love this natural image just the way it is; it is one of the best of a White-breasted Nuthatch I have ever seen.

The out of focus foreground in the lower left corner doesn't bother me at all; it gives the Horned Puffin a feeling of being safely enclosed.

    Wonderful image.

Under Image/Adjust you will find Brightness-Shadows. I think if you use that sliding choice on this photo you can make it a world class Western Tanager image.

This bird is well composed and the watering hole and environmental information gives real life to the bird. You have achieved a very evenly lit "Black-neck Stilt" ( if that is the s[pecies where you are from). The drops of water are pointed to by the posture of the bird and make up the theme of this image: birds actively observe, stay vigilant for security as that eye at you states, and do what is necessary to stay alive.

I like the photograph for its fine art qualities. If you want to please bird enthusiasts as well try to get the sun more behind you and get the eye lit. The color of the bill would come out also with light behind you.
