The vision: well, when I took the image I was new to photography and didnt know about vision yet. I picked up photomatrix and started to understand it as a tool to achieve some painted texture HDR looks. This image came to mind, since I was unable to ever make it work when I was a beginner. It was a stormy night and my vision as I worked the image was to capture that magical moody night. In particular, what works for me is the sky color and texture matching the colors in the rocks.

Just commented on another photo where you said you were new to photography. This is excellent! I love the texture in the sky.

for a new photographer, you have a good eye. Technical details here are good, You gave captured the "feel" for the country.

 

Some suggestions, you have the road lead the eye out of the image, it would be better if the road curved over to the right and let the eye back to the barn. 25 mile/hr sign a bit of a distraction.

Thank you for your kind comments and time on the photo. I was looking for a sharp separation between the birds and NY, not quite what I had in my head, but I came pretty close.

Love it, really like the feel you have generated combining circular and linear features.

Visiting sandy hook on an overcast day, I was struck at how

close I was to NY, yet what a great birding habitat. I was

going for that grey NY kind of day feeling but somewhat

surreal / impressionistic look to the photo. Your thoughts?

Just came back from a great trip to Saxony Germany. Here is the highlight of the trip - beautiful rock formations called Basei. Tonemapped 3 image hdr. As usual going for that impressionist painting feeling.
