  1. I own the 14-42mm and the 40-150mm lens, really love them both. I bought the 70-300mm lens a few months ago and well its a good lens, however besides the fact you MUST use a tripod or monopod, when zoomed out to the 300mm the photos are somewhat "grainy", so you will need a program that can deal with that issue. I've also found that it takes really amazing shots while in really bright light, not so hot in shade or low light, there again it becomes grainy and somewhat dark, all of which can be fixed, in your editing software.
  2. I am not no where close to being a pro, and I was asked by my brother and new sisiter-in-law to bring my camera's and lenses to their wedding and take photos, and they also had a pro. wedding photographer,I was glad to even though I would recieve no money and would never charge for the shots either. They poised for the pro and when got his shots they all stood still for an extra minute and let me take my shots, plus I got to take candid photos of the guests and private moments with the B&G that we all think the pro would not have gotten, because all the people involved knew me and were relaxed, and allowed me to get "closer". Now I am not saying my shots were better than the pros, but I did take some great shots and some of the wedding party and guests and some of the behind-the-sences and of the B&G turned out much better in my opioion, and the pro, didn't mind a bit in fact I got some great pointers from him, learned quite a bit and decided I never want to be a wedding photgrapher either only as a favor to someone very near and dear.
  3. I took some really great shots of my dogs, the photos looked AWESOME reveiwing

them on the camera, I downloaded them onto my new laptop, still looked AWESOME,

then I downloaded them onto my desktop as well, and they were looked really

great, (shot and saved as tiff files), but when I went to print a sample one

out, it looked, well not so awesome, too dark. Doesn't the computer send the

information about color and all that, thats been saved on the memory card to

the printer, so you get a excate print of the way it looked on the card and not

what the image looks like on the computer? I understand the photos looking

slightly different from one computer to the next, because of different graphics

cards. So should I be looking to upgrade my printer? I have had it for 4-5

years, it's just a little HP deskjet 3650, had it about 3-4 years used a black

cart. and a tri color, I've heard stepping up to a new one, perhaps one that

used the individual color cart. would probaly help. Thanks for any

    advice!

  4. So I took some great shots last night of my dogs, they look awesome on the

camers, downloaded them onto my new laptop, still look awesome (tiff files),

then I downloaded themon to my desktop, and still they looked pretty good,so I

chose 2 to test print without any adjustments, and they were well, not awesome,

they were a little dark. Wouldn't all the info. that is attached to the

picture file get transfered to the printer and tell it what the color amounts

would be, and then print it just as it is on the card? Would a new printer be

in order, mine is a hp thats at least 4 years old so is my desktop, but I have

    upgraded the graphics card.

    -Thanks

  5. Hello fellow shutterbugs! I have an Olympus E-volt 500 and am looking for a

wide angle lens, looked on the Olympus website but could only find one that

said wide angle and it was a Zuiko 35mm but when I checked it out on circuit

city's web page it states that its not for my camera. Does anyone know of a

good wide angle lens for my camera? Thanks!!!

  6. Hey Phil, as a beginner, maybe I shouldn't be giving out any advise, (I have questions posed in lots of different forums), but- I say that you should "tweak" your photo as much or as little as you like! I have Photoshop 7.0 and I rarely use it,other than when I want to take someone out of one photo and place them in another. Now granted Photshop does have some really helpful tools, I have managed to salvage some photos that other wise would have ended up in the recycle bin, they were either too underexposed or overexposed and things like that. ultimately at the end of the day it is YOUR art, your vision of how that person, or place looked, how it spoke to you.
  7. Thanks for all the help so far, I do have a very good/sturdy tripod to tell the truth instead of buying the expensive reflectors I went to the local automotive parts store and got those silver reflector window shades, the kind you put across your front window to block the sun, they come is two sizes, regular and large, and with one whip of the wrist it closed down to around 8 inch circle easy to travel with. Best of all it cost less than 5 dollars, I have even seen them in a soft gold color.
  8. I was hoping that some of you dear members could help; I can take pretty good

pictures, including portraits, outside, but whenever I am inside they pretty

much suck! Everyone is either too dark or too washed out. I do not have any

fancy lights or anything, I do get lots of natural in my house and as far as

lights go I have a tall lamp with a small flood or spotlight in it that I use

as my "main" light, (couple of feet in front of and off to one side of the

subject), and as far as back lighting goes its one or two of those clamp on

desk lamps, with small halogen spot lights in them. I have two reflectors,

however I could tell much difference if I used them or not. Photography is a

great passion of mine and do want to improve, however I do have limited funds.

I have a Olympus DSLR, and several lens, I also have different backdrops in

various colors. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks!!

  9. Hello! I am in desperate need of some pointers on photographing a full moon.

I am using a E-500 olyumpus and just recieved a 70-300mm len, however I can not

seem to get the settings right. Can anyone give me any pointers, I am really

rather new to dslr photography, only had the camera for about a year, before

that I just used a point and shoot. The book "Digital Photography for Dummies",

helped some, but to be truthful it wasn't dummie enough! (ha!ha!) Thanks!
