1. I've had that same camera since it was introduced. I've never had a minutes trouble with it. I still use it to this day. It has never been to the shop. I have cleaned the sensor many time myself. I'm waiting for the new 1dx iii to come out. I may bite the bullet and get one.
 2.
Thanks to all that provided input. I think at this point I am just going to drag my heels for a bit before making any new purchases. If anything I may just pick up a new Canon wide angle zoom. Probably the 16-35L. I have a real estate deal that needs to happen before I buy too much. Happy New Year to all!

 3.
Thanks Mark, my biggest complaint with my current 1d Mark iii is noise. I hate noise. I don't like to shoot over ISO 400 with it. I also crop my shots a lot because I don't get as close as I would like to with my current lenses. So I think I would like more MP's for this reason. I dream of a 1d X Mark ii but I don't like the price and it has so much that I don't think I need. Video, GPS, etc.

 4.
A good point Peter. I should consider buying used. I have always purchased new with the exception of one old 8mp body. When I see a nice used canon " L " lens for sale I always wonder if it's a bad copy someone is trying to unload. When spending in the $1,000's it's assuring to have a warranty. A member of our club is selling all of his canon gear which is why I started this post. He has many of the same lenses I already have. One I was considering was a 16-35mm. I'm sure he took good care of it but it is the first version. Do I want to spend $750 on it? I'm leaning towards no.

 5.
I just returned home and I am happy to see all the responses. They are very good and interesting. I guess I could have included a little more info. My passion is wildlife/nature photography but I would like to start taking more landscapes. My old body is the 1d Mark iii. My longest lens is the 100-400L old push-pull version and my shortest the 24-70L 2.8. My wish for lenses would be to add to each end of the spectrum. One wider and another longer, preferably a prime. I would also like a FF for my next body with more MP. I like the 1d body because of its heavy duty construction. I'm not too nice to my equipment sometimes. I don't see myself going mirrorless anytime soon with help from these posts. I guess I will just slowly keep building on what I have started.

 6.
They have mentioned the bulk, weight, and comparable IQ. We are a small club in western NY with less than 30 members. I was anticipating some expensive upgrades to my Canon collection in this new year but I am now hesitant. I am shooting with a 10mp body that is probably 8 yrs. old. I was also considering one or two new "L" lenses. I have been published a few times but sell very few images. It is pretty much just an expensive hobby for me. I don't want to have a pile of equipment with no value down the road. I was just hoping to get some feedback from a larger group of photogs. Thanks Howard.

 7.
I belong to a photography club in one of the New England states. A couple of our longtime members are selling all of their Canon equipment and have started shooting with Sony's. They are two of our best photographers in the club. This seems a bit shocking to me. Is Sony's IQ that much better? Is there a trend in this direction? I love my Canon equipment and I am just trying to figure this out.
