1.
Hi just tried firing up my EC and the shutter stays open until I shut the camera. I have put a fresh battery in it and tested the voltage and I get the same problem, also the red test light does not come on either. If anyone has any advice or can point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks everyone.
2. Thanks Martin, crikey they are 10 years old and still current.

I have ran into a slight technical hitch with the slitter in that it is cutting the film at 8.4mm which is a bit odd at the spacers are 9mm and the blades measure 0.1mm!!?? So I think I will make the spacers out of aluminium instead of plastic.

    Thanks again

  3. Hi everyone,

I have built my film slitter and it "appears" to work great. The slit film ends up in a 35mm cassette ready to be loaded.

Next problem is loading the "eeny-weeny" minox cassette how does everyone go about this?

From cutting the film to the right length to attaching the film to the spool and finally loading etc.

    It seems very fiddly.

    Kind regards

  4. When using the binocular attachment (with binoculars) does anyone know which

distance setting should be made on the minox I assmue it is infinity?

Likewise when using it with a microscope what distance setting is required?

Thanks very much for any information.

    Kind regards

  5. Hello everyone,

That makes 8 of us, you never know would might even reach double figures:-). Great to see the photos Iulian and Robert are taking with their cameras - thanks for the links.

I am mainly using a B and C (I did get a perfect looking TLX but unfortunately the shutter sticks and the ISO dial does not work so I am sending it back - I thought I got it for a good price!).

I can't get over how well designed the minox system is and such a joy to use a pleasent change from working with digital for the day job. I love the ethos of the system the developing tank is just genius makes developing at home so easy and economical compared to other methods.

I am making a slitter at the moment and looking to do some printing - I just need to take some decent photos first....although I have played with the enlarger a lot - a joy to use as well.

A great source in the UK I have found for film etc. is GFG Microsystems Ltd very reasonable price (for minox anyway) and great service - I think they despatch overseas as well. I don't know anyone that develops it but as I am interested only in BW for minox stuff I can do that myself very easily.

Maybe we could have a photo of the month competition there are so few of use we all might get to have a symbolic win at least once a year!

    Kind regards to everyone.

  6. Hi Everyone,

As a recent new user of minoxes I was wondering how many poeple still actively use

them, this forum seems very quiet so I assume that the lack of posts either means

people have posted all they are interested in about minoxes or have given up using

them for a while - or for good. If you still actively use your minox please post here it

would be good to know how many minoxers are on this forum.

If you have any links to your minox photos that would be really good to see.

    Kind regards

  7. I notice you can get 7watt LED lights now - all things being equal I reckon that will give me virtually the same output as the Fisher bulb in Mode 3. With these LEDs getting more powerful and cheaper soon they will provide even more light - great for your large prints Robert.

  8. Robert,

Don't bother I just tried it - it doesn't work the enlarger base fouls the image

:-( and also exposes the transformer which is probably not a good idea!

Other idea is to remove the head and make a litte shelf for that instead:-)

I have no intention of making large prints (well not yet anyway) but I will keep thinking of how I would do it if I want to. Let me know how you get on.

  9. Robert, yes you could build a nice solid shelf (maybe made of of kitchen worktop) cut a square hole in it to match the base of your enlarger, drop the head to its lowest height and project onto a table below, you may want to get some one to help you test if it will work first so you get an idea where the image projects for sizes and distances etc. it would be a shame to got to all that effort to find the image fouls the minox enlarging frame, (you may need to raise the head a bit higher than the lowest point) - but I think it may work a treat. (no guarantees though...the risk is yours etc. etc.).

  10. I think there were extension columns made for this purpose, I think if I ever wanted to make large prints I would have to find some way of wall mounting the head and column and having an adjustable height enlarging table. No doubt some people will have made use of mirrors to reflect the image on to a wall or used a minox projector instead.

  11. On my enlarger the 1 watt LED pointing at the collimator gives out about 1 stop less light than the Fisher Bulb in low mode poitnting at 180 degrees away from the collimator. (i.e. pointing at the silver reflector on the top of the enlarging head).

When I point the fisher bulb at the collimator even after adjusting the bulb position the light fall off at the edges is significant so I will not be using it that way round.

  12. Hi Robert, when I get some paper I will do a test and let you know the outcome. Yes the transformer has been rewired for 240v - I am still thinking of getting rid of the seperate light switch and just starting through a timer.

The thing I have noticed about the LED is that the light appears very consistent, the lttle torch has a DC-2-DC circuit that I think regulates the voltage to give the torch peak brightness for the duration of the battery's life.

The Fisher Bulb however seems to get brighter after a few seconds so if it was been used I assume the light output would be more variable than the LED - but I don't know yet ,as I haven't used it in the real world (yet).
