You are quite right about the 105 Nikkor, I sold all my mf Nikkors when I went digital, but not the 105 - it kind of annoys me to have an emotional attachment to a lump of metal and glass but the qualities of the lens at various apertures is quite beguiling - I can see where you're coming from with the Summitar thing !

Why wrong ?

To get back to the original question....

Three simple answers (there are more to be sure but these come to mind straight off the bat)

1. The lensmount diameter is not wide enough

2. The back focus is not long enough

3. A 35 Summilux is not exactly in line with the latest thinking re telecentric lens design for digital sensors<div></div>

I downloaded NX last Saturday morning and have used it on D2X NEF files all waking hours since! Currently using an AMD64 3200, 2.5 gigs and 4 fast HD's, NX is, to my mind very slow and clunkey, OK it's the 30 day trial of version 1.0 but I won't be paying up after expiry - I'll already have gone back to CS2's Raw Converter - faster, easier to use and more obviously designed by photographers for photographers, Sorry Nikon - You make fantastic cameras and gorgeous lenses but software ? I'll pass...again<div></div>

plastic is good...tough..tough...tough !

all wide angles have perspective distortion...thats why we love em!

barrel and pincushion thats why we hate them !

of the first the mamiya 35mm is the same as any other 90 degree lens

......laws of physics! b and p not a problem....do what I did...buy it

use it love it!....an exceedingly fine lens (latest version)
