...for all your encouraging comments! I get discouraged when I post a photo and get "3" ratings, but this just reminds me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I appreciate all your positive feedback.

I really like this photo. Whenever I see a photo that I think to myself "I would love to hang this in my house," I know it's a good one. I felt this when I saw your photo. Good job!

Your idea is a good one, and your subject shows a mood of deep thought, which I like. You could improve the photo by re-positioning your camera to crop out the buildings on the far left of the photo. And in the middle of the trees there is what appears to be some kind of light. That is distracting also. Perhaps moving your camera more to the left would have eliminated some of the clutter. Lastly, look at how the shadows are falling across your subject's face, making her face partly in the sun, partly in the shadow. If you try to wait until the sun goes behind a cloud, it would diffuse the light and prevent the harsh shadows.

Keep working at it and you'll get better. I hope I've been able to help you. Nothing frustrates me more with this forum than submitting a photo, getting low ratings and yet no one has the courage to tell me how I can improve! It's the only way we can better ourselves as photographers.

  1. Thanks for your suggestions. It's always good to get another photographer's perspective.

I wasn't aware of any fires nearby. We were at the beach all week and this was the only morning that the sun came up with this color. It was stunning!

No aproblem...we're all here to help each other. I liked your perspective also. There's nothing worse than getting a "3" for a rating with no critique on how I could improve. I appreciate your advice and input. Thanks again...

Thanks for your help with my photograph. The black bar is part of the tray that was holding the wine and fruit. I hadn't noticed it until you pointed it out. This photograph was made for my son-in-law. He loves to golf, and since we live on a golf course, he wanted a photo of the wine with golfers in the background. He loves this photo and has it hanging in his house. The cropping you did and removing the golfers is another way of looking at it. Thanks again...

  2. Thank you for your comments. I tried to get both couples to wear the same colors but they wanted their photos to be "whatever." So I decided not to worry about it and go with the flow. I love the smiles on their faces. It reflects their happiness with each other and life. I continue to try to improve...
