give this company a try - they're A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! I've ordered a few already and just can't get over the PRICE! and QUALITY! outstanding...

whichever the bride wants

Just make sure your imprint is in the back so they know who they GOT the album from! But how cool would that be to have other pics in the album... Especially if they're good.. ;)

Anyone done a (Sweet) 15 or 16 for a boy? I doubt he'd appreciate the girlishness of the 'sweet' part, but I'm
not up to date with my Spanish. It's formal, but that's about all I know. I'm just asking because I've been
'referred' and have never done such a thing....
-
(it helped that this couple is VERY calm and collected... and very easy to 'shoot')

Suddenly my cough doesn't seem so bad... Take care - God Bless.

Well... on the positive aspect... I'm on the up side instead of what I felt like LAST weekend... Whoa Nelly... and functioning / performing isn't a concern of mine... Thankfully my brain is sharp again, minus the jarring around in my head from looking like an '80's hair band while I'm hacking... :)
I have some prescription cough syrup that I've been drinking so we'll see if that helps... Wish me peace of the throat if nothing else!!

I try to look things up before I dive into the sharks but didn't find anything.... Here's the deal... I have a
wedding in T minus 3 days and I currently have this HORRIBLE (very unlady-like) cough that won't go away and I
have a feeling it has no intention of doing so by the big day. I'm feeling fine otherwise, no pukies... :) LOL
I just can't talk!! I asked the bride (before I lost my voice) if her personal attendant would be willing to
help me organize people and she said that she is a take charge gal would would definitely fit the bill... Good.
I don't have to yell too much!
What in the world are some of your stories about being less than 100% on a wedding day? I know I should be able
to do my job, but the thought of hacking my lungs up every 3 1/2 minutes in church is frightening! They're
having a full Catholic Mass!
Anyway - some inspiration would be helpful...

When doing proof portfolios through Miller's, you can order a DVD Slideshow of the images and you can also get low res images for internet too... But you do have to order the proof portfolio which isn't really a biggy.
I've ordered the slideshow - (you can pick your own music, too) but not the low res pics... Just a thought!

Check out Nate & Jaclyn Kaiser @ http://www.theimageisfound.com
They do 'shootshops' and have a really cool distinctive photography style, I believe they're in Orange County...

and in MN where 90 degree days are coupled with 99% humidity... i don't always wear black. it's just NOT justifiable when doing outdoor weddings in sweltering heat. i do make a point to ask the B&G how 'involved' they want me to be, the style of their wedding, and if i should indeed match.... beach weddings/beach attire... formal weddings/formal attire... etc.

Download the MpixPress Card/Calendar software (mpix.com)
There are bunch of nice templates and you can add captions/fonts/edit the dates... etc. Also the type of calendar you want...
I think these are even better than the ones from Millers, the parent company. I just ordered a family calendar and it is very nice. $20 w/$5 shipping

I like the 'example of different labs' idea.... case in point of the misprinting theorem: Just did a baby/family session a few weeks ago. They received the CD of FINAL / TOTALLY EDITED PERFECT pictures and then called me up to say that they didn't like how they turned and it happened that on one of their images (where I had made double sure they could crop to 8x10 or 5x7 or even keep a 4x6) ended up getting the heads chopped off because they didn't take the time to go through the images before printing, like at a kiosk... Bad client education on my part, but partly also impatient clients who want everything done yesterday. As easy as it is to charge for a CD of client images (pretty much free money) The thought that the pictures aren't the way you want them to look is more frightening!!

This is all something that has been plaguing me also... I built in a 'credit' for my wedding packages so the couple could have money to spend towards that large canvas or thank you cards or whatever they wanted. However, I also hand over a CD of images, that matches the proof portfolio like what Renee described. The CD however, I think will be coming to an end because of exactly what Mary said, QUALITY COUNTS. I am cringing at the fact that on whatever 'final' images the couple may want won't be edited (blemish removal, precise cropping, color if needed... blah blah blah) and they're going to make Christmas cards out of those and send them to everyone they know!! EEEK! It just un-nerves me because I have about 8 weddings coming up this summer where I've signed contracts with my brides saying they get the pictures... Another lesson learned I guess!

some women who are.... blessed.. could keep their bras on with the straps slipped off the shoulders. that way at least there's *something* there. If nothing else to tuck the fabric into. But yes, clamps are a good thing also for security!
-
sounds like an addendum to a contract in the near future... "if your guests are unruly and overly imbibed, all photographs will cease for safety purposes....."
it's hard to judge how people take alcohol, some are mean and very unruly, while others are just fun and happy...

Call me ignorant and maybe even a 'newbie' but actions can save the world! I do a lot of senior portraits where skin can be terrible, but I can make it a *little* better by using an action... I like a little vignette, or a little B&W, or even out of this world / drastic color popping options. BUT. and I mean that in every sense of the word... I don't do these actions on EVERY photo. I do them on ones where I know it will enhance the photo, or make it unique to the kids somehow. Others are just subtle changes where the over all tone is better, but nothing different to the untrained eye.
Everyone is right in their own way, especially when it comes to how we, the photographers, see our own work. Do WE love it? Then we'll keep doing what we're doing. Do OTHERS love it? If they didn't, we probably wouldn't be in business.

Just got my 70-200 f2.8L IS yesterday... Besides having to dig out my weights and pump up a little..... There's just no comparison to my other lenses in the speed of the thing... Can't wait for all the weddings coming up with NO FLASH CEREMONIES... of course, compared to a Point & Shoot, my 20D and lens felt like a ton of bricks when I bought it... It just takes getting used to.

I was the MOH in my friend's wedding and also 8 months pregnant!!! Being a photographer I am glad that the choices the bride made COMPLIMENTED my outrageous belly and fit in amongst the the other two maids who were size 2's and petite... but regardless... Don't undermine the pregnant woman - tell her she glows and is beautiful... The bride picked them because they are her friends, not because of their 'condition...'
and also... keep this in mind... a hormonal pregnant woman probably won't do your word of mouth advertising any good if you don't make her feel wonderful!!! LOL
