great picture Adrian. I'm working on the same theme and I shall say that one of the thing I appreciate much in this picture is the 3D look mostly due to the gorgeous blue carpet and to the several trees on different planes. A try goal. (6/7 for me!). Mauro -
Thank-you for your interesting comment Noncho, but I have to disagree with you. Let me explain why. You say: too light. It's spring and spring is the season of light. The fog in luminous in this season and the very first beeches' leaves are light electric green. From a technical point of view you should get a glance to the histogram. In that case you will discover that it's perfectly balanced. Again you say: it's not sharp enough. I didn't want a razor sharp image. the fog is not compatible with an excessive sharpness. The central beech in foreground is perfectly sharp, but the greenish leaves and the other beeches goes from a soft focus to a lightly blurred focus and this was exactly what I was looking for. Eventually you suppose that the shutter speed was too slow considering the focal length. I'm sorry to say you are wrong again. The camera was mounted on a very sturdy tripod and operated with a remote control with the mirror-up function activated. No motion blur here, neither macro nor micro blur. The smoothness you consider a difect is, on the contrary, an aesthetic choice. Mauro -

Thank-you very much for your comments. I was actually doubtful if the motion blur on a "by definitition" static subject would work. On the other hand the forest is just apparently static and this is the sense of my experiment: to convey to the viewer the message that a forest is a continuously changing environment. The series has been taken during a two days workshop held by a well-know master italian master photographer (Luciano Gaudenzio - www.naturalight.it) specialized in nature and outdoor photography and it has been a very compelling and rich experience. -
