1.
First of all - than you all for your tips. I will travel for 8-9 full days, flying to Palermo and I can fly back from Catania or (if I travel in circle) from Palermo. I completely agree regarding learning curve of a new camera in the short period of rental time (had it first hand with Pan 1000 last month). Probably going to take my Sony RX100II - at least it will be always with me and I don't care much about church photography - mostly landscapes and some street photos. So now I have to finalize/optimize places I want to see. Any suggestions will be very welcome and highly appreciated.

 2.
Hi everyone,

I am planning to travel around Sicily on October. I have my old Canon 450 with 18-200, Tokina 11-18, 70-300 and a few primes. Last year for the first time I took Sony RX100-II to Brittany/Normandy/Paris and 98% didn't miss traveling with DSLR. A few weeks ago I rented Panasonic 1000 to Montana hikes and wedding (along with Sony) to have a longer zoom range. It was nice, "not thrilling, but nice" experience. The small problem is - this camera doesn't supported by my version of DxO. And it was so dusty, I am glad I had a relatively sealed camera. As of now, I am inclining to take just small Sony. My question is - do I need a bigger zoom (I can rent older Sony RX10, which is supported by DxO, or for that matter - any of the latest Sony RX-100xx or Pan LX100 if they are really much better) and/or do I need a much better camera? I can borrow my brother's Canon5D M2 with 17-40, 24-105 (but I really need to justify weight). Any suggestions regarding travel itineraries, places, photo tips and etc are welcome. Thank you. 3.
9.0 is faster, a bit better (simpler) interface. Note that you will loose geometry correction preset but you can import (copy) it from the 7.0. Noise reduction is useful for the high ISO but very slow, approx. 10-15 min per file. Depending on the version (Standard or Elite) you have price for upgrade is not that high, probably make sense to update or wait for v10
