TMAX 100 is great for general 120 shooting (esp. buildings, landscapes etc.) APX 100 for portraits, esp. women. I like
shooting TRI-X (400) in 120, too, but haven't recently.
Also meaning to get out and try Delta 3200 in 120......
-
Can "Tooth Whitening" be far behind?
-
You're all set Nicolette.
I use Delta 3200 in my old Canon T70 (which only "goes"
to 1600 - on the ISO programming) all the time for concert
photos in clubs and get great results. As others have said
above: just set the ISO for 1600, take the reading and then
close down 1 stop or increase the shutter speed once.
(If you want to shoot the film at another rating - 1600,
1250, 1000, 6400 - that's a whole different animal!)

Where is this beach? Thanks!

Hi! I am posting this for a friend who is in the market
for a digital camera, mostly for work (locations scout
photography for film/TV) but also for general friends/party/travel
pics. The 3 upcoming cameras the salespeople are pitching him
are:
Pentax Optios, Canon S400, Nikon SQ.
Sorry if these modelnames are incomplete but this is what he has
jotted down for me. Does anyone have any general thoughts on these 3
models, their predecessors, expectations, etc.?
Thanks in advance!

Seriously, though: who is his subject matter?
-
Joseph,
B&H (bhphoto.com) has Reala available in 120 right now!
Happy shooting, Tahoe's beautiful,
W.

I haven't shot with it yet, but there is
a lab site on the web that implores people
to shoot it at 50, FWIW.
-
Don't forget Gordon Willis's shots in "Manhattan".
-
Get the Hasselblad 503CW with a meter prism. Very light
and handholdable, IMO.
-
PrintFile makes a very nice archival display sheet for
5X5 square "medium format" prints. They are two to a side,
back-to-back for a total of four per page. Look for them
on B&H, bhphoto.com.
I haven't yet looked into an album for these pages but I'm
sure they exist.
Good luck!

Picked up a roll last week - haven't shot it yet.
Clerk said it replaced Supra 400 but "less yellow".
I'm guessing "UC" stands for Ultra Color.
I concur with poster above...expensive!

If you haven't already, you should send an e-mail
to Scott Hulett at The Surfer's Journal. They are
really dialed in to early (1920s-1940s) historical
photographs from Hawaii and California, and may be able
to provide you with some leads/ideas/contacts.
Think their URL is www.surfersjournal.com
Best wishes!

Have you been to B.C. before? What's on your itinerary?
Feel free to e-mail me if you want some info off photo.net.
Have fun - and take LOTS of film, then double it.

I use it because my T70 was the first camera I ever
bought (back in 1984) and it's still taking GREAT
photos. I'm down to 3 lenses for it currently -
28mm, 50mm + 500mm Reflex - but it is a great alternative
to Medium Format and P&S. Every system has it's time and place.
The Canon FD system endures....
-
Go with the faster Olympus Stylus.
Have a great trip!

very funny

It was that simple and I just missed it.
Many thanks!

My first camera, a Canon T70 purchased in '84/'85, may be hitting
the end of the line, but I don't want to consign it to the scrap
heap just yet as I love using it. Never had a problem with it before,
although a 110-115 degree day in Pasadena's Rose Bowl in Sept. 2000
made the display numbers lose some lines and go wonky. Didn't affect
use though, as I could just count how many times I was advancing ISO
or Shutter speed up and down. Here's the new problem: when on fully
manual, I can't get the Shutter speed to change. The button just does
not move it, thus preventing me from shooting in manual mode. (Camera
still works great in Auto Exposure.) Any ideas/solutions? Is this
fixable/worth taking in to my local (S.F.) pro shop? Thanks in
advance.

very helpful

I know magazines can handle 35mm, 6X4.5, 6X6 + 6X7.
Can most also accept 6X9? I appreciate the info as
it may help influence a buying decision with regards
to a Fuji Rangefinder. I want to know if it can be
used for saleable slides, or if it is only suitable
for wall prints. Thanks very much.

Sorry I don't have a lot of answers to your Qs, but as
to anecdotal experiences with Reala 120 outside, I shot
a lot of it in Paris last summer and the results were
great. I would definitely use it again.
Does your MF camera get mistaken for a camcorder?
