  1. Thank you all for the great advice.

Again, my roll at the wedding is not as a wedding photographer. I'm bringing my gear because I enjoy photography and, as this is a small occasion, I will be lucky enough to shoot some when I feel like it.

To the member who commented on reading the manual, I hope you aren't referring to the Hasselblad 503cx manual as it is severely lacking. Apart from describing how to attach a back and lens, it is utterly useless.

Thank you for the comments on the 550EX, that was information that wasn't readily available online and you have probably saved me hours of google searches. I think I will probably forgo the Vivitar at this time, as that would just be an added complexity that I could fix by using my dSLR.

  2. My brother is getting married in a little bed and breakfast this month. He

doesnt have a photographer, but that isnt what I'm trying to do.

I just got my Hasselblad kit early as a graduation present from medical school

and would like to take some pics at his wedding. I have just shot my first two

rolls through it but have yet to get the prints back.

    I'm planning on bringing my 503cx, a 50mm CF T*, a 150mm C T*, a Sekonic light

    meter, a tripod, and 2 A12 backs. I'm also bringing my Canon 10D, 50mm, 150,

15-30mm, and 550EX. If I can find a way to safely bring my 4x5, I may bring

    that for fun.

I'm planning on bringing a few rolls of 160 and 400 color and B&W film.

The wedding is indoors and I wish I had more time to learn the Hasselblad but

unfortunately this is it. I've been reading the Hasselblad Manual as well as

    Ansel Adams The Negative.

I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to get the 550EX hooked up with the 503cx?

Is there any advice other than to just and enjoy myself and not worry about the

    shots?

    Matt

  3. I was hoping to find some information on what I have discovered to be the DOF button as well as how to disengage the apeture ring from the shutter speed. I've since figured this out, but the manual for the 503cx does not explain this at all.
  4. I'd love to follow the directions, but the local store does not carry what is suggested, and they said that the T Max would be fine. As this is my first experience with developing I thought I'd post here for alternative suggestions.

    Thanks for the advice.

  5. I see that TMax is supposed to be used only with roll film. The local shop here

said that it doesnt matter, that TMax developer is fine for sheet film. I have

see on this board both opinions. This will be my first time developing film.

    Im developing 4x5 sheet film.

  6. I just got my very first hasselblad in the mail today. I'm excited to start

using it, but I did notice this on the shutter. I appears one of the tips is

bent. As I am not familiar with these lenses, I have nothing to compare it to.

Is this really bent, or is this normal? I'm worried that if it is bent, that

it would potentially let light in.

  7. Well thanks for the responses. I am in the market for a 50mm C of CF T* and have been watching ebay and other sites. I have come across this seller and have been pretty surprised at their "rating" system. I'd imagine their "Excellent" rating to be poor, and "excellent+" to be marginal at best. But the kicker was when I saw this lens rating as excellent. I had hoped that such a high volume seller would perhaps be a little more reliable. The numerous feedback was slightly reassuring, but I'm convinced now that seller should not be trusted.

If you want some fun, look at all the other Hasselblad items that this seller is selling and the, in my opinion, generous ratings attributed to them.

I was never planning on purchasing this lens, but I'm thankful the members of this board were watching out for my well being.

  8. Ilkka,

Yes, I do have one back with the camera. I do love my Domke, but Id a dedicated bag for each system. I have a smaller Domke (F4?) and I dont think it would hold the larger MF. Why wouldnt your F4 pockets hold the 50mm as well as the 80 or 150?

  9. I'm soon to be getting a 503cx with a 150mm. I would like to add the 50mm and

perhaps a back later down the road.

Id like some suggestions for bags.

I currently have a Domke for my Canon 10D and it has been a rugged, wonderful bag.
