1.
Youre a stallion, cheers mate

Im seriously considering ditching Canon altogether(3 bodies, 10+ lenses) and reinvesting in Sony FF (instead of stop gap apsc) From what i can tell the glass choices are getting there (i can realistically do most of my stuff with a fast 70-200, 24-70, an extreme wide/fisheye and a planar 50mm) and 90% of my work is low light gigs which from all accounts the A7's crush anyway (i know i have a few hours of research ahead of me re 7s vs 7rii..). Anybody want to offer any reasons why this is a bad idea? (apologies if i seem ignorant but i just struggle to find the time to keep pace with all the details of advancements)

If my stills will be just as good and i get 4k vid with low light perf across the board, am i missing something? Several festival shooters i know have gone this way in the last 12 months..

Anyway a bunch of new questions there, im 'thyping'

Cheers

S

  2.
Morning shooters!

Apologies if im in the wrong spot or covering old ground.

Im being asked more and more to shoot video, most often at mid level concerts (500-1000) people typically and festivals (10-20000) I have been using my 6d's with a mono yet im finding the consistent hand focusing is frankly taking the fun out of it as im capturing constantly moving subjects and in the low and or erratic light im hunting sharp edges on silhouettes a lot of the time.

From what i can tell the best low light performers are the Sony's mirrorless range (?) and i can get an adaptor to suit my EOS glass. basically im trying to ascertain if any of the Adaptors have full Auto focus capabilities in Video mode and if so which brand(s)

Any anecdotal input is appreciated ie how well it functions with the adaptor on (focus accuracy and speed), are there better options? Is canon releasing anything comparable in the near future. im open to other brands of camera and at one stage even considered a black magic yet from what i can tell the little 4k Sony takes the cake in low light. (its hard to go past the price point too as at this stage the video work isnt producing additional income)

Many thanks in advance

S

  3.
Awesome guys thankyou all very much.

Im going to get the Tammy and have a shoot off against my mates L II will let you know what i find.

Might grab a 6D and if it performs as well as my 5D, i'll prob wind up with a pair of those and shift the 5.

Again many thanks
4.
Thanks crew

I shoot a 5d3, mainly because i also get studio work. Interesting you think the 6D would be quicker Marcus.

The bands i shoot tend to jump around quite a bit, as is the case with most event stuff the subject will do something really cool for a split second or so and missing it while the lens hunts even just a little is frustrating as.

Manual focus in such low light can be tough and again speed is an issue.

Stoked to hear you think the Tamron will be comparable to the L for focus speed in low light. I already have the Mk 1 70-200 L and have been coveting a mk2 for a while, when i saw the Tamron 24-70 effort i figured the big boy was worth clocking.

Anyone else got experience with it?

Cheers
5.
Hoi Zama!

Im going to get the latest Canon or the Tamron 70-200mm, most of my usage will be low light rock shows with intermittent blinding!

For me im happy with the centre IQ of the Tammy, my main concern is low light focussing speed/hunting factor. I saw a great comparison on youtube but nobody really tackles the low light focus issue.

Typically i will be shooting highlights around 800iso 125/s @ 2.8.

Can anybody enlighten me? Anyone shot both in similar conditions?

Also what about those good old front/back focussing issues so common with the 3rd party cats, still an issue?

Many thanks in advance, all related info and opinion welcome.
7.
I need a low profile camera to capture images of notable individuals for publication. I may be able to use flash yet prob not most of the time.
Image Quality is the most important aspect but so is low light focussing, are the Sigma DP's my only option or is a g10 up to scratch? anything else?

I need to purchase very quickly.
Much appreciated.

  8.
Hi
I am trying to dump 4gig of raw images from a 1ds mk2 to my pc folder via a usb direct to the camera body, why is it telling me its going to take 90 mins?
Shouldn'rt it take about 10?

What am i doing wrong/ how do i knock this over quickly?

I have a shoot in 8 hours and would love some sleep.

Many thanks

  9. Hi everybody!

A mate dropped his lens and needs to know what it is likely to cost to have a new 10-22 realigned?
When it hit

the deck the focus ring has been pushed under the 'rest ' of the lens body, know what i mean?
It wont twist

and the lens barrel isnt straight it is slightly bent at the join in the middle.
Also how long will it take to repair?
There doesnt appear to be any glass damage.
Thank you
