The lights on the left side of the photo are a little distracting. And perhaps adding just a bit of reflected light against her right side showing off just a little more jeans would give the photo a little more balance against the bright highlights on her blouse.

A vibrant photo with the ominous sky hanging around in the background. The canal draws one blissfully into the picture and past the lit buildings only to meet up with that dreadful-looking sky. It is sort of startling. However, after gazing at the picture a little longer, I can smell the rain that seems to be imminent.

Even Florida winters produce the occassional beach tourist. The sky
was unremarkable, the water restful, the sea oats blase. However,
the umbrella seemed to portray one person's hope of a memorable
vacation.
Comments/critique welcome. Thank you.

My husband and his brother were competing for best cannonball.
Considering the enormity of his brother's competitiveness (among
other things), my husband lost the competition as well as a favourite
floating lounger.
I was unprepared for the running jump, but managed to catch this
really neat shot as I panned a little too quickly.
Comments/critiquing welcome. Thank you.

This was taken while I was about 20 bodies back at a Gen Admin show
in Florida. I started out taking color photos, in which I did catch
a couple of nice shots. However, the camera that I brought allowed
me to take b&w's on-camera. It was then that the shots became a bit
more interesting -- and more forgiving considering the light levels,
my ISO setting, and the exposure time (not to mention the mosh pit
that dilated towards me as the night wore on). :-)
Your critique is appreciated.

As I was photographing the groom and his groomsmen, I lowered my
camera to just above his eye level and fired off a couple of shots of
this young man looking bored and wishing he could be done so he could
go play.
Critique and rating greatly appreciated.

I like to mood created with the lighting and her look. Her hands folded between her knees -- I almost expected to see a cigarette between her fingers, too. Very teen runaway-ish.
Thank you for sharing this photo.

Family portrait? Band photo? Three friends hanging out (literally,
perhaps) at the local train station?
Your feedback is very much appreciated.

Too grainy, maybe? I wanted something weathered and time-worn
looking, and the lighting was dark. But I ended up adding grain
anyway.
I appreciate your critique and/or rating.

Converted to B&W, adding only very little contrast (I'm a fan of
contrasty images, but I wanted to keep this softer given the context).
Nikon D80, f-stop 5.6, focal length 80mm, exposure 1/100 sec.
Thank you for your critique and your rating.

This was taken using a Nikon D80, focal length 28 w/ f-stop of f/3.3
at 1/20 sec (hand-held no less). I b/w'd and added some contrast.
Thank you.
