1.
Does Raw record digital noise more than a Jpeg file? I was opening up some jpegs on a computer at school and was uncertain if the High ISO was not showing the dots because the computer monitor was not great or if because the Raw files show more digital noise than a jpeg file...
There was really no substantial difference between the same picture shot at Iso 100 and Iso 6400 with the jpeg file.
Thank you.

  2.
Does anyone know where to download the software for free so I can open and edit Raw files from the Canon Mark III? I have a Mac OS X Version 10.4.11, Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.
Thank you!

  3.
Thank you for all your responses. I am sorry if I was unclear or may have stated things poorly. I don't want to spend more than $3,000 on the upgrade, so I am not really considering the Nikon D3. If I was going to spend 8,000 or so, I would want it to produce something similar to 4x5 or medium format. I was just wondering if I should wait for Nikon to make something in the $3,000 range in a similar league with the Canon Mark II since I am familiar with Nikon. I am also very much aware that a photographer/light/subject ect. is what makes a good photograph. I am just concerned with the quality of my commercial images, but don't want to make a poor purchase since I have already waited so long to upgrade. When I look at other commercial websites, the images just seem so bright, clear, and sharp...quality I feel I could never produce with my D200 regardless of the wonderful light and good exposure/settings, ect as well as what I could do in photoshop. I was thinking of buying the Canon, but the guy at the camera store is such a Nikon man that he talked me out of it and I remain confused on what I should do. However, some of these commercial websites I have gone too, where the image quality looks stunning (not necessarily the subject or the way it was shot) they are Canon Mark II users.

  4.
I have the Nikon D200 and wanted to upgrade to maybe the Canon Mark II. I was going to upgrade to a better Nikon, but I found out that they haven't made a Nikon yet with 21 mega pixels like the Canon. I am very confused on what to do. I am so sick of all the editing I have to do to make my D200 images look decent. Should I wait for Nikon to make a higher mega pixel, whatever it will be after the D700 or should I switch to Canon. I am a commercial photographer and I also do art photography, but kind of want to go digital with art as well, but my D200 can not compete with my Mamiya 7 II film camera. Any suggestions will be well appreciated, thank you :)

  5.
Well, they will either be taking the cd to a one hour photo kind of place or a professional lab. But one of my customers did bring it to a professional lab and he was complaining about my resolution being at 720. And he said he couldn't print or change it cause it was too large and that i needed the ppi at 200, but isn't that the resolution? I figured he could do that, but I guess not...

  6.
I guess I am still confused. I still don't know what I am supposed to save it as for a standard cd for customers to print from. When I go to image size you need to change the width and height in inches as well as the resolution. So what resolution do I save at? One customer wants a image file to be a 16x20, so I changed the inches to that, but what do I make the resolution to on the cd?

  7.
If you have a 5 x7 width or height, and 720 resolution which is the highest it will go from RAW on my set up, would it be better to do 360 resolution and have a bigger width and height when editing from raw? I don't know if this question is confusing, but if someone is going to print an 16x20 is it better to edit at the 5x7 with resolution 720 or start off with a bigger image size and do 360 and then change the resolution to 720 later?

  8.
I have only used my Nikon SB-900 flash one time for a wedding and it would work for about 5 minutes straight and then stop working sometimes for 8-10 minutes. I thought maybe it was the batteries, but I constantly put new ones in and it still would stop working. I was recently at a wedding and had mentioned it to the wedding photographer and he said there was some overheat thing you had to turn off in order for it to continuously work. However, I can't find it in the manual how to do so. Any suggestions or more information on this problem would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

  9.
I was at the camera store the other day looking for a filter to fit on my Mamiya 7II camera with 80mm lens. The guy thought the one he picked was the right size, but he was not 100% positive, so I decided to figure it out and buy it later. Does anyone know what size the filter is? I was going to buy a blue filter for yellow light, there were two types at the store. A light blue and a darker blue. I am probably going to be shooting indoors with half lamp light and half daylight on a rainy day. Would it be better to buy the darker blue one?

  10. I was shooting on Saturday and after loading my last roll of film my camera stopped working. I figured the

battery died so I bought a new one, but it still doesn't work. The light meter won't come one and it won't

take a picture or advance. Is there something I could have possibly done when I loaded it or something

    simple that could have happened?

  11. The color processor at my school is always breaking and the guy who used to come and do maintaince on

the machine retired, so my teacher trys to fix it himself. But there are some serious issues going on with it

this time that he is choosing to ignore. Right now he is telling everyone to put the color prints in upside

down so the muddling effect will not appear on the prints and there is also a problem with roller marks. Is

there going to be archival issues in the future with the prints by putting them in the color processor

upside down? I don't want to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars printing and wasting all of my time

if there is going to be some problem with the pictures later by putting them in upside down. Thank you.

  12. What is the safest you can handhold with the Mamiya 7 II? I generally always use a tripod, but this past

weekend I started photographing 5 children with the 4x5 and 20 minutes later decided to whip out the

Mamiya 7 II when they began crying and getting cold. It was pretty chaotic and they were all ready to quit

so I didn't even bother to use a tripod. I had it at 60 of a second, but not even sure how steady I was. I

am worried they will all have camera shake. I have no idea why I didn't switch it to 1/125.
