Please look up "cleaning flights" regarding honey bees departing during winter... it happens when sun warms a hive and they can move enough to head out and eliminate their waste. Regarding focal length... I used the Micro Nikkor 105mm partnered up with the Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-20E Loads of fun. Thank you for your comments... I own a research apiary -

what a great atmosphere and very lush winter scene.... very VERY nice! Slowing down the shot and allowing the water to turn to silky misty ribbons is a very nice touch here... -

Had to filter down the lights on the tree and moon... 17 deg. f, well worth freezing for... the longest exposure the D4s has is 30 seconds, so I did this manually..."bulb" -
