1.
A couple of years ago I built a PC parts computer running the Mac OS (a "Hackintosh") and installed OSX 10.5 (Mountain Lion). It works very nicely with LR 5. I looked forward to using Lightroom CC to benefit from the GeForce GTX 660 video card, but I see that OS Mavericks or Yosemite are required in order to use a graphics card. I can install Yosemite, but it is more complicated than upgrading a standard Mac machine. In the meantime, I saw this article which suggests CC may actually be slower with GPU acceleration, as well as Matt Donuts post about LR 6 being slow.
I am happy with Mountain Lion. Are other Lightroom CC users with Mountain Lion satisfied? I have tested CC with a small catalog without the GPU enabled, of course, and it seems about as fast as LR5. I wonder how it does with a catalog with 100,000 images? I prefer not to jump through the hoops to upgrade to Yosemite only to find Lightroom is actually slower. Any suggestions?
