  1. Thank you all of you. You all are very helpful! I will spend more to go with the Nikkor AF-S.

I mostly take family pictures and outdoor/landscape sometimes. I got 18-55mm as a kit already , just ordered the Nikon 50mm f1.8D for low-light codition and now thinking about 55-200mm as my third one.I just concern the 7-300mm is too heavy and long relative to my D40x.

One more Q, please. Should I spend twice amount $ to get the AF-S with VR function or just AF-S is fine ( for a beginer like me) ? Does VR make a bit advance in comparation with non-VR? (I mean in Nikkor lens).

    Thank you!

  2. Hi,

I'm thinking about a 55-200mm lens for D40x as the next step.

1/Which Sigma lens that have auto focus and vibration reduce work on my D40x?

(I understand the 55-200mm VR of Nikon is the best but Sigma ones are much

    cheaper)

2/How are Sigma's lens picture quality?

3/Should I buy Sigma to save $ for another accessories or buy the Nikkor one?

Thanks a lot for your advices!

Note: I'm a beginer and need Auto focus & VR functions.

  3. Thank you Shun!

Okay.. now I understand! Probaly I need to save more budget for the SB-600, since if SB400 is not very strong flash, then I can use the built-in one which is very good already! Do you think so?

SB-600 weight/size is not very big concern of mine because I think I use it only occasionaly.

One more question, please. Can I use the SB-600 total automatically? Set all functions AUTO with my D40x?

    Thanks a lot !!!

  4. Thank you all you guys for such great ideas and suggestion. I think this forum is a great school for everyone new to DSLR camera like me!Very quick and very helpful response!!

I will get the flash first, then the 50mm F1.8 next,(I think I can focus manually with my D40x althougt it's quite hard .Very impressive about its sharpness in low-light. Hope they release the 50mm f1.8 AF-S soon!); and 55-200mm lens last since I shot indoor more often.

Back with the flash, I know I have to choose either a compact,light-weigh,easy-to-use (SB-400) OR a poweful/professional but heavy SB-600.This is quite hard decision as well !:-))

I read very nice review of SB-400 of Mr. Rockwell, very impressive about its light weight and ease of use.

How is it powerful in comparision to the built-in flash??Can I use bounce for the SB-400?I do not intend to be a professional/business photographer, so is SB-400 all I need?

    Thank you again!

  5. Hi,

I'm very new to SLR camera. I just got a Nikon D40x as my first DSLR camera. At

present, I only have a 18-55mm lens kit. After reading many positive review

regarding Nikon 50mm f1.8D lens, I want to have one.

However, I don't sure which item I should need first ( I could only choose one

for now because of my budget) to add to my begining kit:

    50mm F1.8D lens

    or SB-400 (or 600)

    or 55-200mm VR lens?

I would appreciate greatly if you could advise.

    Thanks a lot.

My favor: I usually shot indoor , take pictures of my son and family.

  6. Thank you all of you for your helpful advices.

I will go ahead and save $ for the SB-600!

I read on internet, someone says the SB-400 is just little powerful than the built-in flash, is that correct?

One more question, please. What does i-TTL mean? Do I need to get that function? Sorry for this simple question, I'm very new and the D40x is my first DSLR.

Thank you again and have a nice day!

    Justin

  7. Hi,

I'm very new to Digital SLR camera.

I'm planing to purchase an external flash for D40x. I know the SB-600 is great

but I can not afford to get it.

Would you advice me which one I should choose:

1/ Bower SFD35N iTTL Dedicated for Nikon Digital SLR cameras

    2/ Nikon SB-400

If not Bower, which other brand name/model is good to buy at under $100?

    Thank you so much!
