1.
I had one for quite a while. Great lens, wonderful image quality, but...horrible shutter lag. Actually, it was focus lag as I recall. When you pressed the shutter button, you had to wait for the lens to auto focus before the shot was taken.

  2.
Kara,

I tried to order the 2209wa from Dell last year. They had it advertised for $319 on their website so I ordered it. The order fulfillment time was 1 month, and every month I would get a message from Dell saying it was still on backorder. After 3 months I gave up on it and bought this:
I have seen those sellers on amazon and ebay selling them new, but was leery of buying not knowing how the warranty situation would play out if needed. It looks like Tim had a warranty issue and it worked out for him.
My needs are not a critical as some in terms of photo processing, but the 2311 ips panel works fine for me.

  3.
I have long contended that if a terrorist group wants to wreak havoc on par with the WTC disaster, they would target a shopping mall on a Saturday. I seriously doubt that the perpetrators would show up in advance and take pictures. He/she would probably just show up at lunchtime in the food court and push the button.
No amount of mall cops stopping people from taking snapshots is going to prevent an action such as that. It just shows the mentality of(or lack of) "security" firms(or the people who hire them).

  4.
This was addressed in another forum recently (dpreview.com I think) and the consensus was that screw drive lenses can have varying amounts of "clunk" when lightly shaken back and forth.
My 85mm has this sound. I bought it brand new and it works flawlessly. I wouldn't worry about it. My 80-200mm has a clunk sound and was also bought new and works flawlessly. I think it is just a bit of "slop" internally so that the lens will autofocus quickly without binding.

  5.
Malin, I am using a D200 in a small studio as well (15 x 18) and use the 17-55 and 85mm for just about everything. Eliot's suggestion about increasing the ambient lighting is a good one in regards to focusing. My modeling lights, though not very bright, are OK most of the time for focusing, but I do miss some and manually focusing the D200 is not for my eyes. The D300 or D700 would be better for this for sure.
I use an SB-800 pointed behind and above me on its lowest power to trigger my Profoto pack and I'm considering trying to use the focus assist on the SB-800 to aid in focusing when the ambient light is not enough.
Like you, I'd love to get the D700, but it's just too much $ right now. I'm attaching a picture of my daughter taken with the 17-55mm. This is with the profoto lights and the D200 with the lens at 55mm.

00TZxj-141509684.thumb.jpg.2a621a7db86d65f89c8c04d7d33577c2.jpg

  6.
Not that I know of. With the diffuser attached, you are not going to get the "focused" reach that you are seeking anyway, so it's probably a moot point.

I just bought a seal kit from here:
(link)
I downloaded the pdf file here:
http://www.kyphoto.com/classics/seal/Olympus_XA.pdf
I just finished replacing these this afternoon. I am waiting for the seals to dry (overnight) and I will run a roll through the XA tomorrow. I shoot mostly digital now, but this was my Mom's camera and the only film camera I now own, so I thought I'd try a roll of film now and then.

  9.
I bought this same model brand new in the 70's (except I think mine is a P350 AF..it autofocuses and has a corded remote).
As I recall, you are correct. It has no on/off switch...just plug it in.
As far as the trays go...I've not seen the Gepes, so I'm not sure. I bought some Leica trays for it back in the 70's that work fine, so you might check and see if the Gepes will work with a Leica projector. If so, they will work with the Rollei.

  10. <Ever the cynic, maybe Nikon is trying to move those lenses by capitalizing on the folks who just can't wait.>

As I recall, when the D200 came out, most of what you could find in stock was the body and the 18-70 lens together. But at least the 18-70 was a NEW lens and turned out to be pretty good at that.

  11. Daniel,

I'm an amateur photographer and a teacher at a school with 900 students. A commercial outfit does our yearbook photos and they bring a backdrop with two lights, stool etc. Sometimes, IIRC they bring two of these setups and about 6-8 people. It seems like a couple of people aren't doing much to help (maybe they're new). Anyway, I think the schools like this because they can move a lot of people through very quickly. Having 500 adolescents milling around waiting for pictures could be a real management problem. If you were going to try it, I'd think about getting some help.

  12. I bought a KX when they came out. It was nice, but the needle metering became inaccurate after a while. I then bought the MX and I really liked that camera. I liked the lights for metering, but most of all I liked its size. I had a 40mm pancake lens on it most of the time and it would fit well in a jacket or vest pocket. After years of use the advance mechanism started slipping on it and i eventually switched to Nikon FM and then to a D200. I still miss the MX's size though.
