1.
Thanks for the response. Not really trying to do anything fancy with it, besides removing the shadow from the lens without adding a lot of weight to the camera. Doesn't effect bright light images, but just those where the pop up flash wants to add light. See the attached photos as an example.

  2.
I just added the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens to my wife's arsenal. She loves the lens, but when the on camera flash pops up, it creates a shadow at the bottom of the picture. I did a search here and the recommendation is to use a separate flash. She owns a Speedlite 580EX II, but that thing is too heavy for her to carry around and use for most photos. Would a smaller, cheaper flash resolve this issue? I was thinking of something like the Canon Speedlite 270EX as it only weighs 1 pound. What about lens ring flashes?

If it helps, here is what she has:

Canon EOS 40D 10.1 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body
Canon 17-55mm F2.8 EFS IS USM
Canon 100mm F2.8 EF L IS USM Macro
Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Lens
Canon Speedlite 580EX II, Shoe Mount Flash
Canon BG-E2N BATTERY GRIP f/EOS 40D
Canon BP-511 Lithium Ion Battery X 2
Kingston Elite Pro 4GB Compact Flash (CF) Flash Card Model CF/4GB-S2 X 2
77mm Professional Three Piece Filter Kit
AA Rapid Multivoltage AC/DC Charger (110-220v) w/4 AA 2500mAh
BP-511 Rapid Travel Charger

  3. I just bought my wife a US spec Canon 40D for Christmas. Unfortunately, her

first language is Hangul or Korean and reading through the English manual is not

that easy for her. I contacted Canon USA's support and they suggested going

through Canon's Korean website. Unfortunately, I can't read Korean at all.

We have both tried looking for a link on that page but come up empty.

Does anyone know a place to download a 40D manual in various languages? I'd

even be willing to pay to have a copy sent to us.
