I just added the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM lens to my wife's arsenal. She loves the lens, but when the on camera flash pops up, it creates a shadow at the bottom of the picture. I did a search here and the recommendation is to use a separate flash. She owns a Speedlite 580EX II, but that thing is too heavy for her to carry around and use for most photos. Would a smaller, cheaper flash resolve this issue? I was thinking of something like the Canon Speedlite 270EX as it only weighs 1 pound. What about lens ring flashes?
