1.
Hi !
I tried to change my email address, but didn't managed to do it ! I followed the advice in the HELP, but there's a problem ! It's written:

.............click on the "My Workspace" link in the upper right of the page. You will find a section called "Site Bureaucracy" in the top right of the page. There, you can choose "Change my password" or "Change my email address".

There is no such "Site Bureaucracy" section anywhere on the page ! If I simply write another email address in Photo.net/pvt/home -> Your Personal Information -> Update your Personal Information, then click on Update, I get the following message:

Problem with Your Input

We had a problem processing your entry:

You may only use letters, numbers, underscore and hyphen in your gallery short name. If you didn't change it, you may have had a space in there from before. We no longer allow this; please remove any spaces.

Please back up using your browser, correct it, and resubmit your entry.

How can I change my email address, then ?
Thanks for any help...
Regards,
J-P.

  2.
Thanks everybody !
After having read several posts saying that the M6 is very "touchy" about the battery,
I re-checked it and found it to be 2.94 V. !!! I bought a new one and put it on and... voila !
I compared the M6 meter against my D700's meter, the Gossen Lunasix 3 and even a Sekonik L-308, and they ALL gave the same results, plus/minus 1/4 EV !
Shezzzzz ! I really seems that as soon as the battery goes under 3 V., even slightly, the meter goes mad !
I'm happy now... everything is back to order !
Cheers,
J-P.

  3.
Thanks Dave !
I did shoot the sky as these days it's been so dull that even with a spotmeter, the light remeined exactly the same at any point !
I will try to get a new battery and see... hoping not to have to send it in, because I guess Leica repair is the same as a dentist: before to check the problem it costs you an arm and a leg !
Cheers,
4.
Hi !

I noticed that suddenly, the lightmeter has became totally crazy on my Leica M6 !

I checked by taking a mesure on the sky with my Nikon D700 AND my Gossen Lunasix 3, which both gave me 1:500 @ f/13 at ISO 400 !

When mesuring with the Leica -of course also at ISO 400-, it gives me 1:500 @ f/4 !

I know I didn't bang it and the battery is OK !

What had happened ? How can I repair it or re-set it ?

Thank you in advance for your help...

Regards,
J-P.

  5.
After a lot of reading, I ordered I finally received my Reflecta CrystalScan 7200 ! It came bundled with CyberView X ! I spent a few hours yesterday trying to get satisfying results with it, but... no way ! This program is, as one might expect for a "free" thing, just not worth it !

...I knew from the start that I would have to get an external software for good results and I was balancing between the two -known as the BEST scanning programs- Silverfast Ai and Vuescan ! After reading a lot -and checking the PRICES- I went for Vuescan ! I installed it in less than 5 minutes, inserted a piece of negative (that I had previously given to a "photo labo" to scan, and which came out VERY BAD) and..... voila !

Here's a screen-copy of the 2 scans, side-by side (thanks to Faststone "compare images" thing)... On the right, the scan from the photo-labo and on the left the one from my scanner ! These have only been resized ! What a difference ! I was pi$$sed-off at first with Ilford XP2, thinking the film gave NO details in the shadows and highlights... but when PROPERLY SCANNED... much better !

As usual, clicking into the image will show the original uploaded size of 1605x1000 pixels !
http://www.pbase.com/scherrer/image/120306288/original.jpg

Tech datas:
Negative was 35mm. ILFORD XP2
The photo-labo scanned it at 3120x2075 pixels (3.23 Mb)
I scanned it at 5105x3392 pixels (16.5 Mb)

Cheers,
J-P.

00VGHi-200891784.jpg.abd76ca296629713dbefbb9dc3979782.jpg

  6.
Thanks guys for the answers ! ..so it seems that everydody agrees on the fact that the Bessas are noisier than the Leicas... too bad... Now let's complicate the question: how about other RF cameras, like Contax G1/2 and Zeiss Ikon compared to the Leicas ? Same level of noise ? TIA in advance for your opinions ! (I'm trying all I can to avoid spending a fortune on a Leica body, but I'm affraid it will be the only soltion in the end !). Cheers, J-P.

  7. Does somebody ever recorded the shutter-noise of a Bessa Rxxx versus a Leica Mxxx ?

I'm thinking of getting a Bessa R2 or R3, but I heard that they are noisier than the Leica M...

...as I intend to use this camera in very quiet environments, such as theatres, school classes, etc..., the noise

of the shutter is a very important part in my desision ! ...the PRICE of the camera is another one, of course !?!

If you have both cameras, could you be kind enough to RECORD their shutter noise and upload it somewhere or send

it directly to me by e-mail ?

    TIA,

    J-P.
