  1. Don't feel bad. The biggest advantage of the K100D Super over the K200D is it's here now and you can buy one. The K200D won't be available until when, end of February. That's a month of missed photo ops.
  2. One thing I noticed is that Tamron mentions that it's lens has "macro" for close up photography. Now I understand its not true macro (1:1) but it is something like 1:3.5. Pretty good for most uses. Is the Pentax version the same? Why don't the mention this anywhere in there press release, or ads or anywhere?
  3. Thanks Michael, thanks Lindy. I'm so glad I was finally able to make the jump to a Pentax dSLR. Now I'll need a bag, extra battery pack, filters, a tripod and oh yeah, that DA18-250mm lens.
  4. I don't know about you but I just ordered a K10D and a 50mm f/1.4 lens from the afore mentioned Beachcamera.com a couple of hours ago! $609.00 before rebate was too hard for me to pass up. Merry Christmas to me!

I would have added the Pentax DA18-250mm if they had it in stock but I will have to wait on that for the time being.

I figure the K20D will be announced in January and won't be available until late February or March. I couldn't stand to wait any longer. I figure the new cameras will also cost more and have some upgraded features but for me the K10D will do for a start :)

  5. I was thinking the same thing; that Canon/Nikon is now reacting to the SR systems of Pentax and Sony by offering IS/VR in their more basic lenses. The "tell" for me is the low cost of their new lenses. Why is the cost so low? Why didn't they offer these lenses before? Will the cost of the first IS/VR they put out come down now? Will they put it in even more of their lenses? Canon has 17 IS lenses and Nikon has 13 according to Pop Photo.
  6. Boy do they ever! I went there once to by a Canon A80 years ago and it was real eye opener! You can spend money so fast in that place that it isn't funny. It was crowded when I was there and kind of hectic but it's a candy store for photo buffs no questions. If you want it, it's there.

If you consider yourself a photographer of any level you owe it to yourself to go there at least once. I recommend having money to spend or at least a good line of credit!
