I disagree with Edward's assertion with respect to the utility of quick release plates for 4x5. I have a lightweight 4x5 tachihara field camera, and I mount it on a 3021 and a relatively inexpensive Giottos ball head (link below). Having the quick release is much preferable to screwing/unscrewing every time I want to shoot, and the bubble level allows me to level the head before or after mounting the camera. It's pretty rigid, no complaints here.
