Looks like it made the hairs stand up on the cricket's legs ;-) You never cease to amaze me, Matt. You have a great eye and perfect technique to capture the moment. From the sounds of it, you used a broom to end the circle of life--which reminds me of a story (hope you don't mind me sharing): We went to the Cabbage Patch Hospital in South Carolina when my son was about 4 years old. We just happened upon a Cabbage Patch baby with the same name and birthdate, so we bought him. On the way back to the hotel, he and his little girlfriend said they wanted to "babbitize" their babies in one of the many streams. Being Baptist, we thought, "Oh, how cute," and stopped the car. They took their place down by the stream, dipped the heads of their babies in the water, lifted them to the sky, and began to sing "The circle of life ..." (from the Lion King). (Of course, this isn't the way Baptists do it, but it was funny nonetheless--and, yes, I do have photos--somewhere.) As always, thanks for sharing.
  1. Greg, I don't normally look at portraits, but this is a lovely capture. It evokes many feelings and I simply want to cry--the father's absolute delight in watching his little girl and her tentative, reasuring touch of his leg. GREAT capture. Thanks for sharing.

Jiri, I don't normally gravitate toward fashion photos, but this one lured me in...the long legs, the blessed belly ... great shot. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Beautiful. I love it as is, but you might try to see if darkening the lower, right, baren land might draw the eye more directly to and spotlight the barn and mountains. Even as is, it is a wonderful capture. Thanks for sharing.

Wow! I love the colors, the contrast, the shapes--everything. What wonderful contrast between the smooth waters reflecting the clouds in the tidal pools and the roughness of the ocean/lake waters. The colors aren't too strong or too soft--perfect. Great capture. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Excellent capture, Gordon. I admire any photographer that will trudge through the rain for a shot. This is a great one. I caught some great rain shots during 7-on-7's last year, but couldn't have done it without the help of my handsome assistant (my husband). Again, great shot! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Hi James. I think the biggest problem I have with the picture is that the eagle appears to have a bubble surrounding it--almost like a dark blob. It looks like the picture was photoshopped onto a blue background and it's difficult to make out that the bird is an eagle. Don't give up, keep trying. I hope this helps. Laura
