1.
I've never understood why the need for a 'colored' camera. What's wrong with the basic black or silver?
Once you get all this colored stuff - you become much more obvious that you're shooting a camera when it's purple or pink... when people notice you - then it's much harder to pull out your camera to take pictures of strangers (street photography).
Do wildlife photographers need to add color ? Seems like a bad thing if you're trying to blend into the 'background'...
It seems more the accepted route for a P&S to me, rather than for an SLR. Of course, maybe it's just my opinion... but, a slew of multicolored cameras doesn't seem to be the best method for trying to create the image of creating a 'professional' product.

 2.
Actually, I'd want a full frame sensor... to ensure it would support as many other brand lenses as possible...
:)
And, I'd also want it to have a place to attach a view finder - similar to the leica where you match viewfinder to lens...
those brightline viewfinders that Voigtlander puts out are really COOL. :)

 3.
Seriously! I love this idea!
I was only today looking at the classified section here, and noticed a zeiss ikon and read that it had the leica M mount... and thought, how cool is that! - and then, I was researching it, and one person in a review of it, said that one of its flaws was that it wasn't digital.
So, the idea of Pentax offering a body and perhaps adapters that would allow use of other rangefinder lenses - I would LOVE that!
I think that Pentax has the digital sensor down. I have more trust in Pentax than I do in the Kodak sensor that's coming out in the new Leica M9. I just cant imagine Kodak being competition with the canons, Nikons and (perhaps lesser extent) Pentax expertise.
Anyway - I love my classic cameras. I especially love rangefinders. I have a Vitessa T, a Contax 3a, and my Leica M2. - And, if those types of adapters were available to fit onto a pentax K body to allow using the old lenses with digital - I'd be really excited to pull out my wallet. (Of course, I'd hope the price was reasonable... I loved the sound of the M9 except for the kodak sensor and the pricetag...) And the sensor may prove with testing to be worthy of that price-tag, who knows...

 4.
I'm glad to see the lens again. :) I forgot how well it looked and it'll be interesting to read everyone's experiences with it (both the good and bad).
RT, I generally do all my tak shooting with the camera set to AV mode, and the front camera switch positioned to manual focus. But, for the lens itself, I set that switch to auto.
Then, if the pictures don't capture with the correct aperature reading - I press the green button which will set the lens aperature to the correct reading until you take the shot, then it translates back to wide open.

 5.
Ah, Steve. I'd love to take another trip to Tahoe - but, I'll have to bow out for Les to go this round. Sadly to say, sometimes a person has to work. Life isn't all about vacations.
Oh... if it's your first time there... you must do some shopping for Cali wines - the prices are really cheap there because of the closeness to the border - and there are some really good Cali wines. :) (cheap means half the price of what they sell for on the east coast.)
Oh... and I really do think you should bring the bigger lens ... point being ... about 5 years ago when I was there visiting my friends ... they had an apartment that was part of a complex on top of a mountain... and, while there, one morning I awoke and saw a mountain lion on the top of their trash dumpster... I wasn't into cameras then. Such a shame.

 6.
nah... not a good idea, Haig - I remember reading that the 18-250 is slow... better to keep that one only for the wilderness / animal pics - and leave it bagged otherwise. No, he's wise to have two of the wider angled lenses on camera. ... still ...

the idea of having a caddy is a good one... and the caddy could carry extra cameras, and a heavier tripod... (heck, if you're going to shell out extra travel costs - might as well, make the guy work for his suppers. ) :D *sorry Les. *

 7.
... Lake Tahoe is beautiful - what about that 18 - 250 for some wildlife shots? The 90 macro for some flowers and bugs? ... goodness ... I know that wide angle is good for street pics and landscapes - but, surely it's always good to have a larger lens for that other stuff that could show up in your travels...
:)

 8.
yes, how evil of you to be so sneaky. I wanted to be right below that cat... now I've got an umbrella over my head. I hope it won't bring bad luck.
(just teasing you.)

 9.
I'm glad I bought the lenses I did, when I did. a bit more than 2 years ago - I got the FA 50 for $199, and the FA35 for $299. I know that the DA lenses are wonderful - but, I prefer the FA whenever possible because I can use the FA glass on my good old film cameras.
For those of us who do like to still shoot film - the ability to buy new glass is wonderful for keeping all our cameras alive.
It's not just about the old k1000's having a reputation for being the true 'learner's camera' - it's the lx's and mx's and supers, and pz1 ... that are still a huge part of the film era and still going strong.
The pentax brand has never been considered sh*t - they build products to last, and as long as they do - and the glass fits - I'm thrilled to have cameras in my arsenal that can stand that test of time.
The problem with all the changing of lenses between FA and DA - isn't just a matter of sensors - it's that suddenly - despite having the same 'mount' that there are lenses that are only interchangeable reaching backwards, but never in the other direction.
Yes, I'm a prime shooter too, and proud of it. I'll be extremely disappointed to see prime lenses become a way of the past. True quality - that, baby, comes from shooting prime (with a tripod, of course) :) (mantra - I will bring tripod, I will use tripod, so set up the damn tripod ... sigh... I hate tripods...) :)
