One problem that has been noted with zoom lens is some artifacts caused by reflections in the lens. I use a converted XSI and usually have a zeiss/contax 28mm lens on the camera. I think the 40D would work fine.

5000 shots for one wedding? that is a huge job for post processing. Sometimes I think it would be better to shot as if we were still using film. Could you imagine using over 200 rolls of film?

I think Canon started 1n 1933. So maybe they made a special AE 1 in 1973 to commemorate the 40th anniversary.

it would seem that the three lenses you have already basically cover the 18-200 focal range. I am not sure what your budget is but a Canon 70-300 L lens instead of the 75-300 might be a good upgrade to use on the 5D. just my thoughts.

What focal lengths are your other three lenses?

If you are not using the lens that much than by all means sell it. The lens being discontinued should have no bearing on your decision - IMHO. Canon will still support the lens if it needs repairs for a few years still.

The venue does not allow video's - only stills, I am not much of a video person anyways. It doesnt have to be Canon I suppose but I shot a Canon DSLR so thought I would keep it in the family. Thanks for the suggestions, there must be some Black Magic there.
