When I went to return the AP loader, the store clerk unpackaged an identical loader, tried it, and had the same problem. I don't think this is a case of "user error". I'm glad it works for you, but I prefer the Lloyd's which has no itty bitty plastic moving parts.

I wash the film, then soak it for a bit in a liter of water with a couple drops of Photoflo, then hang them in the bathroom --- no squeeging or anything. I have not gotten stains or anything yet.

Just make sure you don't get a <a href="http://primates.ximian.com/~federico/news-2003-03.html#2003-03-10">piece of shit AP bulk loader</a>; they are horrible. Get one that doesn't have gears or sprockets and thus will not chomp your film. I got a simple <a href="http://www.primemart.com/store/lloyd_1.jpg">Lloyd's</a> after returning the AP and it has worked perfectly.
