  1. <p>Hi All,<br>

First of all, thank you for such quick replies. I can already see that I have a lot of catching up and reading. All of your replies are great help but I must admit it's taking a bit to absorb. I'll do my homework first and might ask again to confirm I'm on the right track:) Thanks again.</p>

  2. <p>Hi everyone,<br>

A friend of mine brought over from Canada a set of really old DAYLITE 700DX monolights. I used to live in Canada and used them for a couple of years. It didn't cost me anything to get them to Ireland so I thought, why not. Now I'm a bit worried. The company is based in Taiwan and the only contact number that's available is ...in Taiwan. How can I convert them to 240V? Is it worth it? I liked them before and am kind of poor at the moment, so I would do anything to get them working in Ireland. Also, how do I check the strength of them? I thought they were 500 watts, but not sure anymore. Please help!</p>

  3. thank you all,

after looking at photium.com, I wasn't really impressed with the layout. However, i got a response within 30 min. they added extra features for me to try and I'm absolutely happy with what i see. I was able to send private links to my clients quickly and basically i have the trial version of my site running in a day. I think i'm going to give these guys a try. Service is unbelievably fast.

btw i was looking for an HTML site, not a flash one, since I'm not a fan of those.

Thank you all for your help and I always find this site very helpful.

  4. John,

thanks for your reply, that got me started somewhere. So far i've looked at www.photium.com and they don't require payment by credit card, but i have to be honest that I wasn't very impressed by their folio. I'll just keep on looking in England, cause I feel like I've called every place in Ireland:)

    Paulo,

I found a local hosting company, and I've decided to stay with them, however all I hear from hosting companies is that I should just hire a professional (considering I'd like on-line proofing included). I believe there are other ways to go about it. I've looked at namo.com before and it looks good and I found a retail shop in the UK.

I still would like to hear more ideas on site building softwares,or ready made sites(preferably HTML) please let me know. in the meantime I'll just keep on reading.

  5. Hi All,

For about 2 days straight, I've been reading about website builders. After doing

some research on Photo.net, I found many great sites to be listed in the forum,

thanks. One thing that stops me from making a decision is lack of credit card at

the moment. I live in Ireland and find it rather difficult to purchase anything

online without a credit card. Does anyone know any building software over in the

UK or Ireland? I can't even find anything as close as portfolisitez, bigfolio,

    bigblackdog, bludomain, etc.

Btw, I want to build it myself..

I recently lost my domain callmarta.com, which already has been taken over, and

can't get a hold of my former designer.

    your help is appreciated,

    marta

  6. Check major supply stores and compare prices. You can also try ebay, if they have that model or even the brand, but your best bet is internet and look up the price of a new one. if you bought them in 2007, then your price shouldn't be much lower. Where do you want to sell them?
  7. everyone that has responded, definitely know what they're talking about. For the last 6 years I've worked as a waitress/ESL teacher, shooting photos on a side. Finally,I have decided to open my studio and let me tell you, I have stopped working in 3 days. Doing market research, making network, registering, banking. I haven't worked this hard in 5 years! Ive just joined photo.net and have read many interesting replies. My advice. If you are sure that's what you want , go for it, don't get discouraged. It's a toughie. Good luck
