<p>I've acquired a copy of 'The Photographic Times' issue from January 1895 vol. XXVI no. 1.<br>
It's quite an interesting piece of history and I've searched but haven't had much luck finding a ton of information about the publication. Any interesting anecdotes from people who know of this publication would be of interest. And especially if anyone has any hints towards what the value of this magazine may be.<br>
Thanks.</p>

<p>Thanks for the response Ray.<br>
I'll try downloading some more detailed instructions. But you're probably right about the film being botched and all dried up.</p>
-
Anyone?

I just tried out this Polaroid back I have for my Bronica SQA for the first time.<br>
I loaded a pack of 667 Polaroid film that I had taken out of my fridge about a half hour before and attached it
to the camera body, pulled out the black tab, took my shot, pulled out the number tab, then pulled out the film.<br>
Only thing is, as soon as I pulled out the film it came apart without sticking at all and seemed to have some
residue on the back side. I tried another shot and the same thing happened.<br>
Is the film botched? Did I likely not load it properly? Is the Polaroid back botched?<br>
Any help appreciated before I waste anymore of my remaining 667 film.

ya, it just gives the evs number, but there's a system on the camera to transfer that to shutter speed and aperture. and you're right, the aperture's are listed on the bottom of the lens, so it is totally usable with an external light metre.
-
Ah, nevermind. I totally just figured it out after pondering it for the past day (at least I think I did).<Br>
Has anyone successfully taken off the top plate to readjust the focusing mechanism inside? Mine's loose and I need to do all my focusing by guessing the distance to subject.

Recently bought a Kodak Signet 80 for next to nothing.<br>
Wondering if anyone can explain setting the exposure on this camera better to me than the instruction manual
does? They seem to complicate things more than necessary. The EVS scale also doesn't make a whole lot of sense
either when applied to the way this camera reads light and is supposed to be set.<br>
Mainly I'm confused as to how the reading I get should be transferred to set the shutter speed an aperture on the
camera, which are marked in a confusing way.<br>
Thanks.

thanks for all the responses.<br>
ill start looking into some of the stuff you guys were talking about, as well as renting and dry ice.<br>
lol, im not sure bubbles would have quite the same effect.

Is there such thing as a fog machine that is portable and can be run off battery power or something of that sort?
How do you guys use fog machines on location?<br>
I'm planning a shoot at an abandoned farm property and am thinking a fog machine might add some interesting
atmosphere.<br>
Thanks.

not sure i understand what you mean? could you elaborate a bit.<Br>
thanks.

Just bought a used
Metz 45 CL-1
recently which was
said to have been
bought new about 2
years ago and hardly
used.<br>
It worked fine for a
while but stopped
firing the other day
with my EOS 30D,
which I had been
connecting to with a
hot-shoe sync. The
flash itself still
fires when the test
button is pushed but
when connected to
other cameras as
well it won't fire.
Is this an issue
with the sync cable?
Is there any way of
knowing for sure
that I need to buy a
new sync cable? If
so, are there any
inexpensive places
where I can order a
new one?<br>
Much thanks.
-
nevermind, just pulled the adapter off my strobe.
-
is there something i could perhaps stick in the top of here that would would leave a 1/4 screw sticking out which i could mount the flash on?
-
Okay,<br>
How exactly do I mount this flash on a stand with an umbrella?<br>
Thanks.
-
Thanks for the responses. You guys have given a lot of valuable information.<br>
The seller is on craigslist, so there's no ability to check his record, but I will be able to meet him in person and test the flash before I actually buy it.<br>
Just wanted to make sure no one thought this price for any of these flashes is a complete rip off, or perhaps someone had a comment like "this is way better _______"<br>
Thanks again.

Thanks for the info.<br>
Unfortunately no response from this seller on craigslist. There's another guy asking $250 OBO for a Metz 45 CL-1 with Camera bracket, Sync cord, Wide-angle attachment, and NiMH battery pack (2) and charger. He says it's only a year old and was hardly used.<br>
Is this a good deal? Just wondering since $75 versus $250 is a pretty huge jump. Though this item is going for $450 plus tax new.<br>
I would normally research this myself, but not a ton of hits coming up on ebay. Thanks for any comments.

Found a used Metz 45 CT-1 and 2 power packs for $75. Is this a good deal and
would I be able to mount this on top of a light stand with a hotshoe adapter on
top with a sync cord going to my Canon EOS 30D?<br>
I'm on the hunt for an affordable, portable solution now that the weather is
warmer. I already have a set of studio strobes but no way to battery power them.<br>
Thanks.

barn doors, distance, and bouncing the lights will all control their intensity.<br>
if the voltage is too high then the wein safe-sync adapter will let you use the strobes safely.
-
i exchanged it for the wein one. the product i got was for sony and their weird hotshoe.<br>
unfortunately in canada the wein one runs you back about $80, not $50.
-
ya you're right, it doesn't fit on the camera. i just tried.<br>
thanks for the tip, i'll definitely bring my camera in with me.
-
here's the exact product:<br>
would this work instead?<br>
or this?<br>
the people at this store generally seem pretty useless, all they seem to know is what's written on the package (and sometimes, not even that). luckily I still have the receipt and can go and exchange it tomorrow. Thanks for your response, much appreciated.

Just picked up a High-Voltage Safe Camera Hotshoe Adaptor (made by sm
development co.) and noticed now a tiny sticker on it that says "for use with
sony, minolta, sony a100, a700, minolta 5d, 7d". I'm shooting with a Canon EOS
30D and have used the Nikon hotshoe adaptors safely, so I assume this adaptor
will be fine. But can anyone confirm this?<br>
Thanks.

hm, i guess i just won't bother. i was hoping for something possibly still available that i could use to enlarge in a darkroom as opposed to scan. if youre scanning you may as well just scan the print itself.

looks like i found a takeup reel <a href="http://photovideos.net/parts/id14.html">here.</a><br>
hopefully this solves my problem, now i just need to get that power cable.
