  1. Because I do both still photography and video, I may be more aware of the difficulties of shooting video that I

would be. I offer a few suggestions.

Consider your location when you are shooting in the same area as the videographer. If you move in and out of

the shot, you will make it unusable.Try to be aware of where the camera is in relation to you. And if you want to

go in front of the video camera and duck, get low enough so you will not be seen. Better yet, walk behind the

    camera.

Video is not a series of images, but a flow and cropping cannot not remove the distraction at the edge of

    the frame.

At our last wedding shoot, an assistant photographer made the footage of the wedding processional unusable as she popped in and out of the frame, sometimes from the side and sometimes from the bottom, her Gary Fong diffuser

leading the way. Certainly she did not intend to ruin my footage and I could not inform her during the

processional. Moving the camera was not an option as I was already right in the aisle.

This is not meant to be a rant. I know that I have stepped in front a video camera many times as well,

It is just something for all of us to consider.

    Thanks.

  2. We have a wedding video client here (US) with relatives in Canada and in Serbia. Does anyone know what system is

used in either of these countries? She wants to send copies to her family and so we want to know

    which system is used where.

    Thank you,

  3. Why not drive to the reception venue and ask the bride to have some one pick you and your equipment up there. There are friends and family members who would give you a lift back to the hotel. Then you just ride along and at the end of the event, your car will be right where you need it.
  4. After seeing the beautiful ( might I say "Brilliant") Royal Wedding, I wonder if it is the common practice for

the bride to lead the processional in UK weddings. Here in the US, the bride generally follows all the others up

to the altar. As the rest of the world will follow the style of the Royals, I was wondering what will be coming

    down the aisle next season.

I hope this is not too far off topic for this forum.

  5. It is the best deal I know of. Where can you get quick, honest opinions about your work from near and far for twenty-five dollars a year? And where can you see work of all levels and styles of photography from near and far for that same twenty-five dollars a year? Art is a lonely business and we all need a group of art friends.

    Thanks for every look,

Not a direct answer but the book "Mastering the Nikon 300" by Darrell Young will help you with the camera. It explians each setting on the menu and explains each function very well. <br /> About the wedding itself, Nadine always gives good advice. </p>

  7. <p>I wish that box was at my house.. Next year.....<br>

I found with my 300, the book "Mastering the D300" was the best for information as to setting the the many, many menu options the camera offered. I know there is a "Mastering the Nikon D700". It may be helpful.<br>

    Enjoy your new treasure,</p>

  8. <p>I have purchasesd a SD-8A battery pack to add power to my SB800. Should I use only four batties in the flash unit itself or can I add the fifth ? The directions do not indicate one or the other.</p>

    <p> Thank you<br>

  9. <p>The less expensive Epson printer that prints on discs is the R280, which I bought for less than a hundred dollars. It prints well and the included softwear is very easy. Our brides always seem to like the little extra of the printing. I usually use an image of a bouquet behind the lettering.<br>

  10. <p>I feel your pain. Really. Same cameras and the same problem. <br>

Two years ago I had surgery to fix the left hand which was the worse and I will be discussing the right hand with my doctor in a month and will probably need to have the right hand taken care of. It worked for me. The recovery is six weeks or so.<br>

Go to a store and purchase a brace for each hand ( about $15.00 at Walmart, if I remebmer correctly) and wear them at night. They hold the wrist in the correct position as youy sleep That could help. The week before an event, I do not do anything to stress my hands, avoiding weeding the garden even.<br>

I hope that you feel better. <br>

  11. <p>Why not give away the flowers? You cannot reuse them anyway. You can make a small card for the drawing and then will have at least most of the names and info for a follow up email or note. We always have a bowl of candy, which will draw people to the table. And we give away a large print and bigger album to anyone who attends the show and books with us.<br>

We have also found the laptop slide show a good idea. Have fun.</p>

You might try the Virginia Community College System. I found that a few courses in Digital Photo and Graphics helped me to make the transition from Film and Darkroom to Sesor and Softwear. I am over the mountains in the Valley but the state system is excellent and compares favorably to the upper level graduate courses I have taken.<br>
