Pierre, you know I value your opinion, but I have to go with Paula on this one! This wise old bird is who he is because of his partial blindness...why would I present him as something else just to please the human eye? He is a beautiful creature...as are you, my friends!

This short-eared owl was rescued because he couldn't fend for
himself being blind in the left eye. He is used to teach children and
adults about birds of prey through 4H clubs.

Alex,
Precious was laying on a very clean counter in the kitchen. No water involved. She was hamming it up for the camera, and I got this shot before she moved again.
I hope this takes away any morbidity and allows you to enjoy this image.
