1.
Hi, I have been following the various threads here and was just wondering if anyone knew the current status of the Hasselblad V system. Is it still alive and kicking with a good following or is it dying a slow death? While Hasselblad's website still states that it is available, I am beginning to see more and more people saying that the V system is at its end. While I know that there are tons of used gear out there, how viable would it be to continue upgrading bodies and lenses considering continued support by Hasselblad with regard to parts, especially for the 200 series cameras which have long been discontinued? Would anyone also know if there are compatibility issues with newer digital backs on these cameras? I do not foresee myself owning a MF digital back but it's good to know that they will work should the prices ever become affordable to the amateur. Thank you for your thoughts and comments.

  2.
Hi,
I recently shot a roll of velvia 100 on 35mm and several of the slides were underexposed. I have an Epson V700 which I use to scan the slides and am having difficulty working with the underexposed ones. I tried correcting the exposure with photoshop but that hasn't turned out too well. Does anyone have any techniques on how to work with underexposed slides on a flatbed scanner? Thanks for your help and advice.
3. An alternative to the light meter would be a metered prism. Like Edward mentioned, you can get one of those from KEH.

Also try www.hasselbladhistorical.eu for general information on hasselblad.

If you really want to start shooting right away, there are several sites which you can google that give you a step by step pictorial guide on how to load film.

  4. Hi Q.G.,

It's not my camera. I just saw an ad on ebay a little while ago for a 205FCC. It seemed like a cross between the TCC and the FCC, meaning it had the FCC label and the control knob said Pr,Ab,D,Z,M which is consistent with the FCC instead of A,Pr,D,Z,M for the TCC. It however didn't have the 1/4" and 3/8" tripod mount but only the 1/4" mount which was what the TCCs came with. Could it have been a first generation TCC upgraded to an FCC? Having asked that, I know that the physical dimensions of the 2 are slightly different.

  5. Hi, I recently came across a Hasselblad 205FCC with the serial numbers ES,

which would indicate a manufacturing date of 1990. The 200 series cameras

weren't even in production at that time yet. Would anyone know if there were

any deviations from the VHPICTURES format that was used? Thanks.

  6. Hi Ladislav, wow, I love your pictures. I wish I could visit all the places that you've photographed. Anyway, this is the first time I've read of anyone feeling that the 180 is sharper than the 250. Thanks for sharing your photos.
  7. Hi Gary, you wouldn't still have your 250 sa and have it up for sale would you? You mentioned good colour rendition with certain transparency films, can you tell me which ones they are? Lastly, this is digressing a little, but did you switch to digital because of convenience or because it produced better results compared to film?

Thanks everyone for all your comments.

  8. Peter, how would you rate ease of use and applicability of the 250 for portraits? I read that Kornelius likes this because of the proportions that it gives. I have not had a chance to use it and I agree with Wai-Leong that it's not just about lpm, but I can't afford to have both and seeing that the 2 focal lengths are somewhat close and having read all the rave reviews about the 250, I was thinking of making the switch. I completely understand that they are different lenses but in my case I have to pick just one and accept the pros and cons of each. :(
  9. Hi, I currently own a 180 CFE and am considering selling it and getting the

250 CFE SA in it's place. I have trawlled through this forum extensively and

have not been able to find a post or comments that make a direct comparison

between the 2 lenses. I have no doubt that the 250 SA is a sharper lens with

better resolution and colour rendition, but the 180 is rather good too. I am

asking this because Kornelius has mentioned several times that the 250 SA is

the finest lens available and I was wondering if anyone had compared the 2. I

shoot mainly landscapes and portraits. I recognise the advantages of the 180,

being a full stop faster and being able to focus much closer. Thanks so much

    for your comments.

  10. Yup, can wind the camera fine with the crank. Will bring the winder to local agent and have them take a look at it. I got it from Tony Rose at popflash.com. Told him about the problem and he said to get the local agent to diagnose it then let him know what's wrong. He gave a 30 day warranty. Hope it's nothing serious. Thanks for your help.
  11. Hi, this is my first time posting a question here. I have searched through the

forum and have not managed to find an answer. I have just bought a used winder

F for my 205 and after attaching it to the camera and pressing the shutter

release, the motor wound for a split second then stopped. I took out the

batteries and noticed that the fuse had blown. I replaced the fuse and the

same thing happened again. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this

same problem. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
