I spent a lot of time trying to decide which amongst all the various depth-of-field shots of this fence to use. I finally landed on this one. I think the main reason is that greater depth of field also brings the background steps and stone into sharp focus, which in turn prevents the the fence and locks from standing out.

Thanks Bert. It was an interesting location ust outside Piazza Navonna and the rain had only stopped a short while before I made the shot.

I'd say it was Photoshoped to desaturate everything but the blue winter coat, but I know for a fact that you never use the software. Great natural shot. You can smell the crisp air and the crunch of the man's boots in the snow.

Except for the motorboats, it's a Caravaggio scene. Very nice.

This is a shot that deserves to be printed poster size. The richness in the shadows is really appealing.

Thank you. Glad you like the shot. Throughout this trip, we were regularly amazed at the richness of color and the subtle textures.

We asked about the "Old Inn Hotel" to find out if such a thing ever existed. It turns out that the building was put up in the late 1600's and it's been the "New Inn Hotel" for over 100 years. It's a beautiful, small and somewhat luxurious hostelry now, made over in the style of William Morris.

Thank you Bert and Jan. I too love photos that evoke some sense of the subject.

Why do you insist on continuously mis-identifying these photo subjects? This is clearly the English Ridged Phallisnake captured in the rarely observed process of shedding its skin.
-
It's a nice photo. But once again, you have mis-identified the subject matter. The item at the top of the photo is properly called, as EVERYONE knows, the Lesser Pickleberry.

I think it's a good photo. But the tomato is a fruit, more precisely a berry, not a vegetable.

It's the one in Barrie. I think Ron Baird's sculpture deserves the prominence it achieves because of the featureless and non-distracting background.
