Hi Pierre
This was taken with the aid of a Gitzo tripod, Markins ball head and Wimberley side kick. Have just added details to equipment.
35mm equivalent I think goes something like this on a 20D (30D or 40D).
500mm *1.4 (for the converter/extender)*1.6 (crop factor of camera) = 1,120mm equivalent focal length
However the camera data says its just over 1,200mm, from memory, and I can never work that out :-).

Thank you for your comment. I have not darkened the image. It was taken at a low angle of sun and so I increased the saturation a little and added a little more warmth to the shot.
