Hi guys,
I have a bit of money issue and because i have 2 zoom lenses I was thinking of selling one.
I haven't used the zoom too often, so I cannot make a decision based on the quality of the photo I took, let's say I use other lenses as standard and maybe used each of the zoom once just for testing (see some shots below to compare the 2)
I have a Canon 400D and the lenses are a Canon zoom 70-300 without IS / USM 1:4-5.6 III and an adapted Cimko 70-210 1:3.8
I noticed from a couple of test shots that the Canon has a better contrast, and the blacks are defined and not dull.
The CIMKO has a bit duller blacks, but has a better Depth of Field.
The Canon can be on AF, while the Cimko is only manual, on the other hand the Cimko has a better aperture also when zoomed in.
Another note is, maybe the Cimko is not going to be as easy to sell as the Canon.

What do you suggest is better to sell, and another question: for ho much? Is 80Euros too much for a Canon without IS?
Thanks for all your inputs! Cheers, Val.

Hi all,
I have two lenses from my uncle old cameras that I would like to adapt to my Canon 400D EF.
1. MC Cimko MT Series 70-210mm f3.8 for Pentax
I was looking online and found the following adapter, but I am not sure it is the right one for this lens (is the Cimko a PK lens?): http://cgi.ebay.com/Pentax-PK-Lens-to-Canon-EOS-Adapter-EF-450D-5D-350D-40D_W0QQitemZ190291626245QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLens_Accessories?hash=item2c4e43c905&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
2. Yashica Lens ML 50mm f1.9
I am not sure "at all" what adapter to look for and where to look for it to buy.
If you need pictures of the 2 lenses let me know.
I also have an additional question: I have a used-once Canon 20-35mm f2.8 zoom lens that I rarely use due to the focus range, could it be worth selling? As it is not in production anymore and I read it is quite a good lens, but I cannot find any indicative selling price.

Thanks in advance for all the great advices-
Hi John - thanks for your reply & examples.
I bought it and I do like it - honestly it works quite well except when it is dark outside and I also do not use
flash.
Made a set on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/anike/sets/72157608234663238/
I will have to use it more often though ^^
Thanks all again,
Val.

Hi Juergen, thanks for your answer... but doe this camera work in poor light situations or not?! I am looking to understand how poor is the picture's quality in low light - shadow - etc.
I am aware of the other cameras (canon A590 e.g)... there are many around, but I need info on the light conditions this camera could encounter. Thanks a lot !!

Hi all... I am very attracted to the Minox Leica M3 reproduction, I am just very unsure about the usability....
The 5 MP one has an SD slot, so that is better to previous versions. But it doesn't have a flash, and I am very
unsure about how much it can be used without optimal light conditions (eg an evening or inside shot). I am
looking for someone that owns the Minox M3 to give me some feedback.
I am looking at this camera because of the size, the look is spectacular... I already own a professional reflex
and I am looking for a tiny one to bring around in all situations as the reflex doesn't do the job... I am just
worried this won't cover all situations.
Thanks all for the advice, Valeria.

They sell the 5.0 mp on KLM flights.... I am in love with the look but I am quite upset about the non flash .... This could be a major downsize as camera is not usable in all condition. If anyone has some more pictures taken with it, Id be very interested.... Thanx

Hi again, thanks for all the answers. I didn't know I could set the DOF Preview on my Canon lens, it's great. Thanks to all your comments I think that overall the Canon zoom lens will suite me fine. I think I will always be able to find a MF third party ffl to have and play with if I want, but the 75-300mm seems the best "next step" to take from where I am. Considering I shoot just fine with th 18-55mm standard kit. I also think I will need AF in some situations when using the zoom.
Thanks again for all your nice imputs! They were all very helpful! Ciao, Valeria.

Hi Colin, thanks for the answer. The seller is a friend, lenses are second hand but CLAd. I have tried the Pentax
on my 400D and it works fine with an EOS AF Confirm Adaptor. I never owned an analog SLR so I will not miss the
aperture ring much, it is just that I loved the way that lens was sharp. On other hand I am reading more and more
about the comfort of using zoom lenses, and Canon users seem quite happy with the 75-300mm....
Now I'm
considering weight etc and I start to believe a nice ffl is good to have but could be of less usability compared
to a zoom lens. Argh... it is an hard choice.. looks it really depends on the use I'll make of this lens, but I
never owned one, so I really don't know yet ...
-
Correction... the Pentax lens is a Pentax Takumar 135mm F2.5 and Canon Digital Crop x1.6 produces a 216mm F2.5 Lens.

Hi Robert, thanks, this encourages me to get it- I found it through a friend of mine. It is a good lens, I really liked it even if it feels heavy. I can understand that the manual settings may not be ideal for sport shooting etc, but I most probably will never shoot sport or birds with it. What about shooting the moon? Would the Pentax do the job?

Hi all, I finally decided to upgrade my Canon 400D standard lens kit and get myself a nice telescope lens.
I have no specific "usage intention", meaning I do not need it for particoular sport or event shooting, but just
to try out some telescope techniques & shots.
At the moment have 2 in mind... or maybe 3, it would be great if you'd help me making my choice!
The first, that I absolutely felt in love for, is the SMC PENTAX 1:2.5 200mm .. I really like the
fact I can select the aperture from the lens itself, it immediately shows up the difference in light and I love
its clearness. It has a fixed 200mm though. Price: 100euro with case
The second, is the Canon tried EF 70-300mm
f/4-5.6. I have tried it, it seems OK, nothing too special about it, a nice zoom. Price: 140euro
I have also seen the Canon 80-200mm, not bad either... Price: 110euro
I have made some thinking and I know the choice is very personal, this is why I'd like to hear some user's
opinions about
those lenses, so I can make up my mind better.
Thanks all for your suggestions :)

Hi all - thanks everyone for all your great tips. I finally got it: the Yaschica D. It is in perfetct condition, CLA'd, case... it even had a brand new film inside! I am super happy!! I already made a double exposure by mistake on the first frame... lets see the outcome. I'll be more carefull now I get to understand how it works. Found the manual online, useful, very ^_^ Thanks again. This forum helped me a lot! Ciao ciao, Val.

Thanks all. The Yashica D has Yashikor 80mm f3.5 lens, perfect codition case /
cord and no scratches. There are couple of pix online taken with it here by the
owner. Price at 120Euros [+/- 100$].

Thanks Howard this is a good overview you give me... can I ask you some personal opinions about the Welta Reflekta II? I am now curious about that too :)
-
Thanks again! I checked the Yashica D and it had Yashikor lenses... so I opted
and bid on the Mamiya and the Rolleicords...though I really like the descriptions of
the Mamiya C and will try to get that one! Will post news once I have some, this
has
been super-useful. Thanks!
-
Thank you both for the quick replies.... I couldn't know that they were so overpriced. I kept on looking around and found some Rolleicord (1 or 2) around the same price [+/- 100Euro] and also a Mamiya C220 professional which I am trying to bid on ;-).
I never owned a TLR, I currently work with Canon 400D. Now I feel more confident with it and I am ambitious to learn how to use the TLR too ^^
PS. The Mamiya comes with an analoge light-meter brand Soligor [see pix]... do you think is a good deal?! Thanks again!!

Please help me!! I finally decided to buy myself a TLR camera so I started
looking around for Meoptas, Yashica, etc. I never owned one and this will be for
me the 1st ever to try and play with.
I found 2 models: Welta Reflekta II and a Yashica D
Welta Reflekta II TLR + Case & Lens Hood - Price 80 Euro [+/- 65$]
Condition:
Glass on lens is clean, no fungus, no scratches PERFECT.
Focusing and stopping is smooth. Viewfinder is clean.
Yashica D + Original Case and Lens cap - Price 130 Euro [+/- 110$]
Condition:
Glass on lens is clean, no fungus, no scratches PERFECT.
Focusing and stopping is smooth. Viewfinder is clean.
Now...... I am really not sure which one of these above I want to buy... or is
better to buy. I read many forums pointing out the Yashica D is not as good as
the mat-124G so not to spend so much on it. On the other hands no-one seems very
enthusiastic about the Welta Reflekta II neither.
So I need your help in making my choice.... if you think you wouldn't spend
those money for no-one of above, please also tell me. I have the possibility to
look around for a Yashica mat-124G if you really say waiting is worth it.
I am new to TLR - specially the old ones- I won't buy the new Lomo or Seagull as
advised in this forum.
Any comment is super-welcome!
Thanks a lot - grazie mille!!
Tip on which zoom lens to sell: canon vs cimko
in Canon EOS Mount
Posted

Thanks all for your answers, getting a bit more an idea about what to do with them.
Fact is I bought the Canon zoom and never really used it as I fell in love with the 50mm f1.8 and the EF 20-35mm f/2.8 L lenses, which I use on daily basis.
@Wayne CIMKO were the Pentax lenses, got one from my uncle who used an old analog Pentax and adapted it to my Canon, it's an old lens, I found a pic here.
@Rob you're right, the Canon one sells about 150$ because is the one without IS USM.
@ Keith, yes I am a she, thanks for noticing ^_^
Thanks again all, I must say this forum helped me since day 1, you people are THE BEST
